i know im not to active in the b5 world anymore but we need to make sure are voices are heard to keep the goverment from doing as they please with are hobby and life style

Exactly. And it's not even targeted at modified street cars. The automotive aftermarket is way too big of an industry for it to become illegal to modify street cars. It's simply not realistic. And for fucks sake learn how to vocab.

@ celison ya my spelling sucks from what i read this was targeting street and track cars. Or thats how i took it if im wrong about that then i read wrong. Plus this is a fourm not highschool... So ill spell how i like lol.

@hotshot have we met before, What dyno day? Either way ive been working on a hibiscus while deciding on picking up a shell but i think ill just 6 speed swap the hibiscus

Trust me, living in California with all the "regulations" we have to prevent modifying cars along with CARB teaches you a lot about regulation. California arguably has one of the most vibrant car cultures in the world, if not the US. Has legislation affected it? Of course, but it also isn't a hindrance to doing what we will to our cars despite understanding the potential consequences.

However, I think the big concern with any new legislation to limit what we do with our personal property is just that; it's our person property and the argument is the government should not legislate to tell us what we can or cannot do with it. With every legislative action passed, more controlling and comprehensive legislation will follow in the future.

You're mostly right, but look at CARB certifications as an example. When they passed that and the aftermarket had to go through this extremely convoluted process to certify a part with CARB, it most certainly had an effect on the industry at least when it comes to California.

something like this will never get passed. it's just not feasible considering the size of automotive racing. not to mention thousands, if not millions will be left jobless and race cars account for an insignificant portion of emissions.

the EPA is completely useless imho. So is CARB. Only point of those agencies is to make money and hurt consumers.

This Fall presents another opportunity for folks to do their homework and get it right.

Isn't that the truth, shame the vast majority of voters are uneducated and ignorant (either by choice or not). I for one am a proponent of having basic tests of people's understanding of the political system and must pass before being allowed to vote. A large portion of Americans don't even know the name of their own governor.

You can blame that on the schooling systems. Still not an excuse though, as everyone has free will and can do their own research. Sadly, some people base their votes off of race/gender. I'm not so much for the cognency testing to vote as much as a standard test of America's history and supreme laws to be a citizen. Tally up the people who know and understand the constitution, you'd be surprised how many don't know
