    034 Diff Inserts Help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey folks - I was not able to get my car high enough to get the leverage to break the diff bolts free to loosen them and then insert the 034 pieces.

Does anyone around here have either a high-lift jack with high jack stands and/or a lift at their disposal? I have the tools to do it, just not a way to lift the car that high - and I don't want to buy a new jack. I called around and the "performance" shops are looking at around 250-300+ for a 45 minute job. I'm willing to pay, just not that much. Thanks in advance.

I sent JB a message too but figured I'd post out here as well.

First off - I'm super impressed with the amount of people who offered their services / lifts. I'm not used to a regional forum being of any help whatsoever.

Second - A friend of a friend has a shop and is throwing them on for me. I would cancel, but I already committed to a date and don't want to piss off my buddy. If the drive train noise is too much and I want to switch over to the ECS polymer pieces, I'll be reaching back out.

    Thanks so much everyone!

Super easy, if you have space to get leverage to undo the bolts, and a friend to help you support the diff.

With the already-higher SQ5, and a set of ramps, you will be golden. If you need some ramps to keep, you can order them on Amazon for around $39 shipped.

The shop that I use is in Potomac. It seems like a fairly easy install, I’ll let you know when I plan on doing them.

I'm getting them done by Justin at Undisputed Auto Care in Sterling on Monday at 10:30. I don't think I'm going to be allowed in the shop though. I'll let you know the amount of time it takes him, but he's thinking 30-60min for all three. NGP and RRT's Audi guy wanted 2+ hours of labor...crazy.

@drumnjuny don't buy your inserts just yet. If there is too much noise for me out of the diff, I'll hook you up with mine. Paid to have the outsides of the inserts (as to not affect fitment) powdercoated when my injen airbox lid was being coated. Real stealth look.

I don't have sport diff on mine. Sure we can take a ride. If it were 5-7 years ago I could deal with drive line noise. Now I only want what I want (i.e. Blower and exhaust). No more whining diffs and gear boxes for me.

I got the full rear diff package. Had them powder coated satin black. Looks dope.

Good luck man. Let me know if you need anything in the future.

I have the rear differential carrier inserts on my B6 S4 and they were extremely easy to install. Just have to lubricate the inserts so that they go in easy. After installing mine and then looking at the other inserts that are available for the B8s then I would expect to easily be done installing all three inserts in like a half hour.
