    B6 Window Stuck

Just encountered a problem with my drivers side window... It is stuck about 3/4 of the way up and whenever I push the window button up or down a crackling sound like broken plastic rattling starts. Anyone know why this is happening and what I have to do to fix it?

    ^^Bingo.

You may get lucky and be able to take the old regulator out and rethread the cable and have it still work. I had to do this recently when mine got stuck while I waited for a new one to get delivered. I popped the center gear out, rethreaded the cable, and packed it full of lithium grease. Worked good enough for the short term.

Unfortunately this is a common problem with these windows. I've replaced driver's side twice and passenger side once in the past 3 years.

Anyone who stocks OEM/aftermarket Audi parts will have them.

    Here's ECS: https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B6_S4...dow/Regulator/

Yea, it's too late to try to save it. The cable jumped the spool. The tangled cable should have enough slack to pull up the window by hand. Otherwise take off the door card and cut the cable and pull the window up by hand until you can get a new regulator. I''ve gone through 2 of these. Tip for reinstalling, if you're doing it yourself, DO NOT cut the zip tie holding the cable around the spool on the new regulator until you set the spool into the motor gear. If you cut the zip tie and try to install, the cable will most likely jump the spool on it's own.

Where exactly is the cable I should cut if I can't pull up anymore? Thanks

Behind the door card there's a steel cable. Door card is pretty simple to pull off with basic tools and some pull and pray techniques.

I'm about to replace mine this weekend. I found a few good step by step write ups on here.

I bought my regulator on Amazon for about $70, there were a few different brands on there but the $70 one had some good reviews.

I left the zip tie in place, but as I was adjusting the window it was spinning the spool and the zip tie got caught and broke. The spool popped out and after some fighting I got it back in. Once back in a found a bolt washer and nut that fit to hold it all together so it wouldn't pop out again, but would allow me to move the window up and down to get the adjustment right without having to worry about it popping out. Once it was in the door you can reach behind and remove the bolt.
