2012 S4 Vag-COM Screenshot request, to prove fraud of the Certified Pre-Owned Process

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello All,

As the title asks. May I ask someone to email me:
Byte 10 of the Central Convenience Module
Byte 1 of the Engine Module?
(Below are the screen-shots of what is configured)

I need this ASAP, to continue my fight with the dealership and show Audi the dealership is trying to fraud me and Audi.

The dealership whom certified my S4 coded my S4 as an Avant/Wagon. Also, it's complaining about the convertible top?? Whaaaat? haha They are trying to blame me for self-inducing the problems.

I should have known..... But I've never had an Audi with a display. --Traded in a Base 2008 Audi TT. Anywhooo... the MMI display, footwell lights and Map lights did not work with the car off and MMI / Map lights did not work with the car on. --I have a video, if you are curious. I fixed the problem by selecting the options via the Vag-com...easy-peasy.

    Emailed to: [email protected]

    -Thanks in advance!

How can they blame you for the problem. I think we need a little more info on whats going on here. They have 0 proof from what you said to prove you messed with it. I would call AOA right away.

Curious, what are you hoping to gain out of this process? They may likely have had no idea it was coded that way. They probably scan for codes in the CPO process, but I doubt they do a check for something like this.

No offense to OP, I'm guessing there is an ESL type of language barrier, but I'm not following the "stream of consciousness" style of the post. Can someone help me understand what's going on here? Thanks in advance.

if I am interpreting him correctly he is having problems with his S4. in particular its saying the convertable top is open (or some such error). The issue is that the S4 does not come in convertable, only the S5 comes in a convertable. So to figure out what might be the issue he used the VCDS to see what it going on, and in the process is finding the car is saying it is an A4 avant (also does not come in convertable, and by the way he phrased it is probably not what he has). This in the mean time is going on with the dealer saying the OP caused the issue some how (he did not elaborate on how or why).

it sounds like he took it in for warranty work via CPO and is getting told "no, you caused the issue" when this issue is not supposed to be possible with an S4.

    Torinalth:

Yes! You are 100% spot on! I will be picking up my S4 tomorrow and will be immediately checking for correct coding, before I leave the dealership.

During the CPO inspection, how is something like this missed? The MMI not working should have been a clue...?

Audi of America is involved but only said the dealership fixed the coding problem at no cost. And...that's basically it... I have no faith the inspection was actually performed. I'm having the dealership use the last service checkup bought by the previous owner to change the oil, since I can't check it (no dipstick)and don't trust the service reminder.

    -Bump-

    Does anyone have a quick reply for a '10 - '12 S4, if not a screen-shot, as to what the Coding should be for: Engine Module-byte 1 and Convenience Module-byte 10 ?

    Thanks!

So, here's the thing. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, anyone who's had VAG-COM coding done and then brought their car in has, at one point or another, had to re-code everything because the dealership has reset it to factory defaults. I've been told they're stored at Audi as part of the coding per-vehicle. For $100, my dealership will re-code Audi to whatever we customizations we've done, so even if they update the ECU coding, we won't lose our codes.

Why does this matter? Because your dealership should be able to completely restore the programming on the car to factory defaults, blowing away whatever customizations, correct or otherwise, have been done to the car.

Yep, this happens to me. They put it to stock, maybe even relay the ECU with upgraded software.

Anyways, I must have missed the part about warranty work. Is OP simply angry that the dealer didn't look this deep into the car during the CPO process? Or are they not honoring warranty claims under CPO? Or are they trying to TD1 him?

    Good luck man!

Correct jokingjimmy: The car should have not been sold with problems, which one of a few problems that is beyond the ECU. The dealership tried to blame the ECU errors on being "self induced" even though they saw the problems on the day of sale. The response: "out of the kindness of the dealership, we won't charge you for the repair" ---*crickets* "Your warranty could be voided, or parts of your warranty could be voided, next time" ---*crickets*

--If the ECU was scanned, they would have seen multiple errors that repeated after clearing the DTC's and would have seen the "Convertible top module missing" error--Big-Red-Flag.

"TDI him" ha! I hope that situation is fully resolved, for those who bought TDI's.

not T D I. T D 1 (number one, not the letter I). TD1 is a VAG designation for negating parts of the warranty (typically powertrain) due to owner interference (typically a tune, intake, shifter, etc). Either way, from what you said it sounds like you purchased the car with the light on. That's just not smart regardless of what they say. get everything fixed before you ever sign anything or move on.
