Locked out while engine running. TSB not helpful

So I've been locked out 3 times now while the engine is running on my 06' B7 A4. Found this Technical Service Bulletin 2015226/3 that describes the problem perfectly.

When I open the door after driving some distance the central locking system doesn't unlock the doors.


It says to replace the driver door lock and both door control modules in the front. Wondering if anyone has had this issue and tried this fix.

Stealership wants this for parts

Lock: actuator- $256.76 8e1837015ab
Left Control module $252.50 8e1959801g (CONTROL MODULES CONNECTED TO THE WINDOW MOTOR WTF?!?!)
Right Control module $252.50 8e1959802g

And if I buy these parts used, who knows if I will get the updated software/hardware because they won't give me a serial number break or a software number.

There might be a slightly cheaper fix (ie. free)

When exiting the car - for any reason or length of time - the engine is not running and key is in hand.

After being locked out of a Hyundai I-load rent a car in a remote part of the Northern territory of Australia with everything we had inside ! I will never shut a car door with the engine running or key in ignition ( with no-one inside obviously ), I had to smash the quarter vent,luckily insured.
