VAG COM logs show that my actual boost is 2540 mbar. when i convert this to PSI it says around 36 PSI, is this forreal?? am i actually boosting 36 PSI??? the answer is probably no but could someone tell me what i am actually boosting? Thanks!

actual boost is inclusive of atmospheric pressure, so you need to subtract that out. Also, 2.5 bar is the limit of the stock MAP sensor, so your actual boost level may be higher.

so my boost gauge reads around 30psi is this accurate? (mechanical)

also is it possible to upgrade my MAP sensor so it can read higher readings?

Read the boost pressure at idle, and then subtract that amount from your actual boost. In Houston the atmospheric pressure is 990mbar. This will change dependent on elevation.

We have no way of knowing how accurate your boost gauge is. You can always try a different one and verify.

Yes, there are tuners who are willing to incorporate a different MAP sensor. For example, I'm planning to install the VW 3bar MAP sensor when Motoza is read to incorporate it into my tune.

From what I understand, though, it's a decent amount of work due to the ECU's stock 4-bit limit for the MAP sensor (anything greater than 2.5bar requires tweaking to the way the 4-bit limit is used, or something like that).

3bar MAP will allow the ECU to see up to 29psi at sea level. They have a 4bar (43.5psi @ sea level), but not sure if there is a 3.5bar.
