OEM Borg Warner K03s - Replacement Needed

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Everyone,

So as the subject states, I am looking for a replacement K03s (most likely a new turbo, and not used) for my car.

After 12 years (2004 model), with most of that being APR Stage 1+ tuned on my B6 A4 1.8T, I think the turbo is finally crapping out. This is mainly due to me and a few others noticing for about a year an excessive amount of oil in my intercooler piping, as well as I received this lovely CEL last night following a nice trip down limp-mode lane:

Can anyone point me to the best deal out there for a replacement OEM Borg Warner K03s?

    Thanks,
    Asif

The oil in the intake track could be coming from the block breathers. If everything isn’t functioning properly it can result in excessive blow-by being sucked into the TIP.

Your overboost code is much more likely to be from a split hose going to or from the N75. That isn’t a sign of a failing turbo.

Are you experiencing any other performance issues other than those two you listed?

    Hey Fletcher,

Thanks for the reply. Nothing motor related, the other 2 'issues' I have right now are the following:

    A. What feels like a slipping clutch at high RPM / high boost / high load situations.
    B. A lot of oil around the oil-pan, possibly coming from the top of the pan......might be loosing its seal.

However, from a performance / engine running standpoint, everything is smooth. I also drove to work this morning, and I am boosting "properly" again (20+) without any issues, aka no limp mode yet. We'll see when I trigger it again.

Let me know if I can provide any additional information to help in the troubleshooting process.

    Thanks,
    Asif

As mentioned overboost usually results from the N75 not doing its job properly. The first thing I would do is to inspect all the boost control hoses connecting the high pressure side of the turbo to the N75 and then from the N75 to the wastegate for any cracks or leaks.

If they are good try pressurizing the hose from the N75 to the wastegate and see if the wastegate diaphragm is leaking.

An last but not least you can log your actual versus requested.

Thanks Fletcher and everyone else! Picked up some extra vacuum hose, and hopefully with the help of the illustrious Matt Devo, will investigate all hoses around the N75 / TIP area.

Will hope for the best and update this thread with our findings. TIA!
