Can't figure out slow engine oil leak

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Changed my oil today and noticed my slow leak is getting worse. I have no idea where it's coming from, it's everywhere. I attached some pics and hope someone can recognize where my leak is most likely. Valve covers look fine from what I can see ontop. I tried cleaning it up and put some uv die in the oil. Valley pan gasket? Lower oil pan? Seems to be a lot of oil on the pan screws, I tried seeing if any were loose but they seem pretty tight.

Link to a few pictures http://imgur.com/a/Wnoup the 3rd one is hard to make out but I looked down in there and can see some grimy oil, not sure if fresh though.

    Thank you for any help!

/\ like he said, also there is a seal in the upper pan that the water pump slides in, its for the drive shaft for the water pump. I had a alot of moisture around that area on my car which i found to be a wore out o-ring.

    Righto. Warm your engine.
To check if your leak is from the oil filter housing and leaking into the valley pan, get a small piece of clear tubing and place in down into the valley behind the IM and in front of the oil filter housing.
Get a can of degreaser and use the tube as a conduit to get the degreaser down into the rear of the valley. Don’t be afraid to use a fair bit.
Now do the same to the passenger side - this side is really easy as you can practically look down into the back of the valley - at the back of the IM and infront of the MAF hose.
Let it settle for a few minutes
Now use a garden hose and get the water in to the same place with a bit of pressure.

You’ll see the diluted oils pour out the front of the engine.

If you degrease the underbody of the car at the same time, you’ll find you won’t have a leak for at least a few days.
You can then start to gauge where the leak is coming from.

    Hope this helps

The leak is usually from the ‘figure 8’ gasket that sits here between the valley and the oil filter housing

I think I am going to do that kit and the PCV. Is the oil pressure sender also in there? Anything else I should do while I am at it?

    Thanks.

The Sender is on the back of the oil filter housing

JHM’s kit does not look like it has the IM gaskets. You might want to also look at the condition of the small vacuum hoses that run either side of the IM. They can get pretty brittle and snap. I just cut off the end that was brittle and purchased a length of hose that they sleeve into and extended the length of those.
Change out your Valve Cover Gaskets and have a look at your Snub mount condition whilst you have your car in the service position.

This is the kit I got when mine was leaking. Comes with all gaskets. Took me about 5 hours split between two days because I had to buy new hose clamps and vacuum lines. They get super brittle and I destroyed them. No more oil leaks though
