    2011 a4 2.0t base model questions!!

Okay, so I'm very new to the modding scene. I drive a 2011 a4 2.0t base model. Its completely stock performance wise (I have rims, tint, an audio system, and a Rs4 grille), and I wanted to do some performance mods. Right now, I'm really interested in the K&N typhoon intake, but then I'm completely lost where to go from there. Is there a difference between a downpipe and a high flow cat?? What are your guys suggestions? Also, I heard with the K&N the forge dv valve could make some odd sounding noises so maybe the GBG valve is the way to go. Suggestions please!! Im also a college student and don't have thousands of dollars, so keep it reasonable lol.

Don't waste time or money with an intake, they don't have a performance benefit over an aFe Pro Dry S drop-in filter and a turbo inlet pipe. A downpipe typically includes a high flow cat (HFC) and they're generally used interchangeably. The best bang for your buck software mod is a stage 1 software tune, which would be aided by (but does not require) the filter and inlet hose. The downpipe/HFC would be required for a stage 2 tune. Some people skip directly to that, but the added cost of buying and installing the downpipe essentially doubles the price. I don't have any personal experience with the DV but I'm sure others will chime in.

In summary: the typical "intake and exhaust for a few horsepower" doesn't apply to these cars. The factory systems are excellent designs and not restrictive.

It's hard to mod our cars on a college student budget. I see you didn't list any suspension work.. have you lowered your car yet?
