Starting car without pressing brake pedal

Did anyone get to the bottom of this, or is it just me that this is annoying?

I hate having to press the brake pedal just to turn on the car. When i want to turn it on for warm up in the morning, i would prefer if i can just put the key in and turn it on.

Did anyone find this feature with vag-com?

Did you put this in the right section? With a B8, pressing the key without the brake puts the car in accessory mode.

yes, im talking about my b8. And i know about what you said above about the accessory mode.

What i am talking about is the "turning the car ON without pressing the brake pedal". So if we can override the Brake pedal switch or anything like that and turn on the car "without" having to get in and press the brakes.

If it was a manual, then i understand this feature, but in an automatic...Its really annoying.

    Thanks

In a manual B8 you actually don't have to depress the brake, you just push the clutch to the floor. There is, as far as I know, no way to override the "brake needed to start" setting on an automatic car.

How is a remote starter able to start the car without the brake being depressed?

AFAIK remote starters don't work on our cars. They work a few times then the car learns that the key is not actually sending the signal and kills it. Take that with a grain of salt given one of the service advisors told me that.

^ this makes absolute sense to me considering there's a chip in the key.

actually, the guy who will install my remote starter, he said that you need two keys. and one needs to stay in the car, i think there is a spot for it in the glove box compartment. But that key picks up the signal for the car to start, so one key has to stay in the car for a remote starter to work. So it is possible, thats why there has to be a way to override the "press the brake to start".... in my opinion.

I now find myself pressing the brake to start any car but I agree it would be nice to lean and start it without sitting down. especially when you have a foot of snow to clear off

Would definitely be nice with automatic cars. My girlfriend's previous car was a 2010 Tiguan and oddly enough you could turn the car and start that without your foot on the brake.

thats why it pisses me off the most, either snow or just turn it on to warm it up in the morning. Sometimes i turn on my b5 from the passenger side, but the b8 with this feature, it would be nice to bypass it.

I think I remember seeing something about an option with vagcom but not sure where it was located just play around in the menus and look around

Also by putting a key inside your car you are making it more susceptible to theft by giving potential thief the "key" to the immobilizer function. Think of your car needing two keys, one being easily copied (physical key) and the second key very hard to replicate (transponder chip)

Could they not just use the blank/empty valet key (or any valet) to start the car at this point?
