    HFC o2 spacer discussion!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know different people have gotten different results. I have a B8.5 with an 034 HFC. I tried the 90 degree spacer, CEL. Then the minicat, CEL. It does NOT have a tune and won't be getting one for awhile (under warranty with new longblock). Any insight/ tricks? I know this has been covered but I figured it's own thread would get the most up to date answers. Thanks!

Well the tune would usually make that light go away but since you don't have a tune, I'm not sure if you can clear that. At least that's the only way mine went away. How much longer do you have the warranty?

None of them work long term, you need a stage 2 tune, / end thread.

Lol. The ignorance is real. I've had mine for 2-1/2 years. No CEL ever.

Which spacer are you using, if any?

I couldn't get ANY of them, not even the ones that come with difference size inserts, to work for more than about 40 miles.
Usually the CEL was on within the first 20 minutes of driving. I spent a solid 2 months dicking with it.
I finally gave up and had the HFC replaced with the stock one. Too much trouble and I definitely didn't want to have to deal with going back to the tuner every year before emissions testing so the readiness code would reset, but hope the CEL didn't come on before the test, which wasn't likely to happen in my case.
Also found out that APR was going to charge for stage 1 AND stage 2, even though I just wanted to go straight to stage 2. So I said screw it... stage 1 tune will be enough.

YMMV of course. Apparently the spacer works for some people.

edit: are you using straight, 45 or 90 degree spacer?

    45. The one with the little piece of catalyst material inside.

No, you wont. The sensor NEEDS to recieve a certain amount of exhaust gases or it will throw a code for a defective sensor if the values are too low.

No problem. The spacer comes with a retaining nut so you can set the depth. Mine is threaded in all the way and its been trouble free since I installed it. I didnt notice weather you were running a HFC or a TP, but either way good luck!

I've got an order in for the back ordered roc-euro spacer as well. Hopefully they get some more cranked out soon. I plan on using the eurocode HFC too. Thanks for the heads up!

I had my 034 HFC way before APR or anyone had a tune for my B8.5 and I tried everything i could. The ECU is very intelligent and in some cases i have heard the CEL goes away but mine did not work. i even tried the ROC-Euro mini cat spacer but no luck.

Only thing that worked was the Stage 2 tune. Good luck
