    S6 4.2l Oil Pan gasket, what sealant/procedure.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Looking to replace the oil pan sealant when doing the next oil change.
Is there a specific sealant Audi uses or recommends?

Is the procedure simply unbolt and leave the sensor attached to the pan and work around it?

Wish fel-pro made a gasket for it...

    This stuff works great. https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-All_R..._Pan/ES263904/

Just make sure you let it cure for a few minutes before you reinstall pan. And follow torque specs as per bentley manual. As for the sensor, just unplug it and you can leave it in the pan.

Is there any reputable manufacturers of an actual gasket, be it cork, silicone already cured, or something of the sort?

This is the only actual gasket I found, I believe.

Anyone have the torque specs for the bolts? I traded my bentley manual back in as I recieved my $90 back..

Number 81 in that diagram is the gasket material listed. I believe the gasket you are referring to is the valley pan gasket.

You are correct, I am in need of the sealant labeled "81".
Guess I find it hard to believe manufacturers prefer something like that which is more probable to leak if not torqued properly and waited for cure time. I'd assume it saves product cost and no new to outsource a manufacturer for that gasket.

Do you have the torque spec, or image of the bentley procedure?

Tightening torque 10nm. I've always tightened from the center, outward in a criss crossing pattern.

And speaking from prior experience, you'll be tempted to over tighten it since 10nm isn't much; don't.

That has been my issue with RTV like sealants... have another 1500 miles or so before doing this, so we shall see how it goes.

Should be fine. I've used it on my previous 3 Audi vehicles as well as my Volkswagen and haven't had an issue. It is imperative that you remove all of the old gasket material. PITA for sure but needs to be done thoroughly

It should be around 200 in generally. Maybe 240 if you are working the motor (not an expert here). 260+ I would start to get concerened
