Unhappy Parts falling from the sky

So, here I am sitting at an intersection, not really paying attention since I have the red light. I look up just in time to see a foreign object heading right towards my face, it ends up hitting what I though to be my windshield, bounces off and lands next to me. Startled I get out of my car to find a nice dent on my A-pillar FUDGE!!! I look over next to my car and find what looks to be an axle support???? My only guess is it flew off of a passing car and B-lined it straight for my B7....sigh...

Of course its drivers side so I get to look at it all the time... I have full coverage, but I am not sure if I'm gonna deal with it.

    I know!

I was keeping the car stock because it's easier for resale and trade-in... but now its either I try to fix this garbage, or I take my 500.00 deductible money and start modding...

Spare tire retainer off of a truck or suv. Looks like ford but not sure. The cable that's broken there cranks up and holds the tire in place.

Pretty sure you are right with it being a Ford, looks exactly like the one on my F150 and Explorer. I wonder if they had pinched the cable on something, my spare wheel on the truck is a mess but the cable is in good shape (truck is 16 years old).

Estimates ranged from 740.00 to 1300.00, I have a comp deductible for 100.00 and a collision deductible of 500.00. So I'm hoping that this falls under comp, otherwise I may just leave it be, I have chemical damage (vandalism before I bought the car) on the passenger door from years prior anyways...

    it should be COMP.
I got hit with a shredded truck tire on the highway late last fall and it was COMP.

It all depends if the piece actually came off the car and you witnessed it or if it was already in the road and bounced up from another vehicle running it over. Make sure to say it came off the vehicle in front of you.
