    I wonder if it would be adequate to sort of "polish" the surface using ArmorAll or some other brand/type of interior cleaner, especially if there is a product intended for black vinyl surfaces.     I would guess it has some black pigmentation to it so that it dulls down some of the white/gray color of the existing scratch.

    I'm typically a bit leery of using any kinds of products on the interior vinyl because some can leave a slippery coating and/or evaporate resulting in residue coating the windshield (dash trim cleaners in particular), but considering that this panel is only exposed in limited times when the driver door is open, I would not hesitate to try something like that.
