Key will not lock into Place on Audi A4 2009

Hi everyone, i have a good news dealer story. At one point I had a regular key on my keychain along with the car key and when I put he car key in the regular key was on the side and went into the key lock at the same time. This did something to the key lock mechanism so that the key wouldn't lock anymore.

I phoned the dealer about it and was expecting to have to pay for a new key lock and 1+ hours to take the dash apart to install it.

Instead apparently there is a TSB on the key lock and they fixed it for free, even with my warranty having expired a long time ago.

Doesn't look like this is too common a problem, I couldn't find anyone else with key lock problems with a search.

Hey I had this issue as well. My key just wouldnt click in to place in my dashboard. I ended up looking around in there with a small LED light to see if any thing was abnormal, turns out a tiny piece of black plastic (that I assume broke off from inside the key slot) was lodged inside, preventing the key from engaging. Removed with needle nose pliers and its been fine ever since.
