Hey guys, have a question here. Do any of you guys know how an original timing belt looks like?

Here are a picture of mine.

    Thanks!

sometimes you can tell bu the part number but not always. if you have the tools to do it your self go for it . i always replace them even if they said they were done already

also all b7 a4 i know of came with the dayco belt factory and we switched to the conti one because of a squeak. another thing to do is have the belt installed backwards so you know its been done :)

So i found a few infos on Dayco and it's scary!

The production data code 08214196 means: 08 (year 2008), 21 is the 21st
week of that year and 4 is the 4th day of that week. The 196 number
represents the belt position inside the production mold.
The minimum self life is 5 years.

So I guess mine was made in 06!

Scary it's an 07 with 205 000km! Guess I need to change it!

When I had my timing belt changed. They stuck a continental contitech sticker under the hood of my car with the date and mileage written on it. Sorta like the oilchange reminder sticker.
