Spark plug with oil on threads concern

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Did spark plugs yesterday and saw that the bank 1 spark plugs had a bit of oil on the coil packs and spark plug themselves.

These pics are of the plugs from today.

Saw threads on other models, but nothing specific to the 3.0t platform.

    Thoughts? Cause for concern?

    No CEL, no misfires.

Are you sure that's oil? Tips don't seem fouled.. Then again need a good pic from up top
Could be just the dielectric grease melted.

Threads weren't drenched. Maybe a drop or two of oil

Agree, nothing looks out of ordinary to me...I don't really know what the burned on stuff is, but seen it many times. Is this the side of engine with oil filler cap? Could just be some old oil that spelled one fine day years ago.

Oil is leaking from valve cover gasket/seal around each spark plug hole.

Thanks for the input all. I'll pull the plugs in a few thousand. If it's still having this issue I'll look into doing the valve cover.

    Edit: damn autocorrect

Please post a DIY if you decide to do the valve cover. Even if we have a DIY currently, having more DIY's is never a bad thing :)
