Almost killed myself today. Gas pedal stuck!!!

So I was trying to pass this car today and found out my gas pedal stuck when I floor it. I shift to neutral and hook the pedal back up so I didn't die. Any idea how to fix this issue?

It works fine when the car is off. I assume is just the floor mat. I'll try it again when I get off with today. I was terrified almost peed myself for real

x3 on floor mat. Check and make sure it's still hooked on the hooks and didn't move up.

Had this happen in an MK4 Jetta, exact same passing scenario, it was just the floor mat.

Lucky for me. unlike the S4, a 2.slow with an auto tranny gives you much more time to remedy the situation before speeds get too high.

Happened to me in a buddy's 3000GT VR4. It was the floormat as well. Very scary, luckily I just clutched in and let it bounce off the rev-limiter before anything more serious happened.

Sorry to hear, when I bought my S4, it happened to me when I got on the freeway here in LA. I'm lucky that it was lite traffic, the pedal was stuck for about 15 sec. I place it in neutral and pulled over to the side of road. I stomp on petal and it free itself from the INCORRECT mats that the dealer provided me with my new S4.
I called them and they sent me the correct ones that are attached to the floor. If anyone one else, they would have crashed. Oh I apply the brakes, it would not stop it too. I feel lucky as I track a car and stay cool headed.
