    C7 2.0T A6 downpipe interest

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have been looking around and have not come across anyone that makes downpipes for the C7 A6 2.0T. If I were to start building them is there any interest?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the typical A6 2.0T buyer knows what a downpipe is.

I would tend to agree with you, but I came across one for the right price and with me being a unitronic dealer I am going to make it faster... because that is what I do. Lack of interest is not going to stop me from making one for mine but I can make it for others if there is interest.

It has a pretty large front mount from the factory, a decent sized turbo, and a decent base line power. It is painfully obviously to me that I should not have any transmission issues at the power this little engine that could is capable of making so why not have a little fun with it.

I didn't even know the A6 was offered with a 2.0 until recently.

I would be interested, I can not find anything for this car, hopefully APR makes a ECU flash.

Have you ever built a DP?

I had a 2.0T in a 2006 A4 and drove it over 300,00 miles with no drive train issues. That made me a fan of the 2.0T. I know the 2.0 TFSI is a different engine and understand what the key differences are. I happen to like the idea of getting more out of a small displacement engine. I am not out to win a race, but simply want more performance. If you couple an APR Stage I tune with a down pipe, the specs get pretty close to a stock 3.0T, especially on the torque rating. I would love to find a down pipe for my A6!

i'm sorry guys I didn't realize anyone ever posted in this thread. I should have my can back out of the garage in a week or so. I am likely still going to make one. It is just a matter of gathering time to do it. The E85 power theses engines are making is really impressive. I just drove a A5 with a 2.0 with a upgraded turbo and I was really shocked with the power it has. That might be in the works for me too.

I just flash my a6 with Unitronic stage 2 after gutting the stock cat out. It is like driving a totaly different car now. I launched the car on full boost in the rain and it actually spun the tires through first. I didnt think it would have the balls to do it. In the dry it would most certainly not spin at all. I will get some video of it when the weather is not miserable. I am going to get a intake for it and i am on the fence about a intercooler. A huge thing to note on the tune is that it does not request the boost to dive at 4500rpm like the stock tune does. This make the car pull a lot harder in the upper rev range. The stock turbo is not large enough for this engine to ever be a top end screamer, but it is actually enjoyable to drive now

The stock cat pipe is huge on the a6. Even the outlet flange is larger than 2.5" which is plenty for a stock turbo car. More to come as the miles rack up. The car just turned 10k and got its first oil change a few days ago.

How did you gut the cat? If memory serves, it is welded in place. Also, I checked out the Unitronic site and they do not list a tune for the A6 2.0T. They do list is as under development for the B8 2.0T. What are your thoughts?

The car is a bit of a beast now. If you live near the buffalo area let me know or if you are in ohio i am taking it there saturday night for a overnight stay if you want to go for a spin. I am very pleased with the power.

You unbolt the cat pipe from the turbo and break out the cat material. It is like crushing little cermaic pieces. It took about a hour to do. I use a 1 inch auger drill bit to get a start then a prybar and a hammer to finish it off. Install new gaskets and rock on

Nice, any video clips for sound? Is it much louder now compared to stock any drone or vibrations?

Checked out unitronic they do not show anything for c7 2.0T

My tune isn't apt it's an in house tune

I will take some videos sunday evening. I was working with Unitronic to make the file for the a6. The a6 and a4 engines are the same as i understand. The a6 has a different cat and exhaust obviously, but the a6 exhaust is huge for the power levels a stock turbo is going to make. I dont notice any difference at all on noise. The engine is still extremely quiet. I want to weld in a pressure sensor into the cat housing to measure how much backpressure there is in that chamber under boost

I am a Unitronic dealer in buffalo NY, when i get back from ohio on monday i will reach out to Unitronic to request the website to get updated

Looking forward to your vids! When you auger'd out the cat ceramic, did it leave a smooth condition inside the cat housing, or did some of the ceramic remain?

    Awesome,

I noticed my car spending more gas not sure if it's from the tune or the universal borla mufflers I installed with vibrant resonators

So as of now I believe Super Sprint is the only company offering a exhaust system for our car, so I placed my purchase, expecting delivery 3rd week of May,

item: 769513, Y-pipe, center pipe rear resonator delete.

Items: 775934 & 775904, mufflers to use with OEM tips.

Item: 769503 is the resonated center pipe

What I noticed is there resonated center pipe item: 769503, the resonator is at the same location as the OEM suitcase resonator, pics 1 & 2

With the center Y-pipe rear resonator delete, item: 769513, the Y-pipe is pushed further back & the section where the OEM resonator or SS resonator would be placed which is now straight pipe, if you look closely in pics 4 & 5 you can see spots of little lines going across, I'm assuming those act as chambers to reduce vibration or drone? Not sure if I'm correct on this but definitely helps with something in this system

Have noticed if you car has smoky exhaust after gutting your cat? I've noticed this in videos of cars with cat-less exhaust.

Super is the only direct fit downpipe I've ever seen and trust me - I have done more research on this than most.

Working on a custom fab from a b8a4 DP now just need to get home from Montreal to finish angles with him. I got mine from ModdedEuros and we're playing with it. My idea is the b8a4 mimics us so well we may be able to tweak most of these parts into our unicorn 2.0 and make it work.

As far as exhaust after cat i recommend heading to a local shop and straight piping the entire system and throwing some Borla ProXS mufflers at the end. Best sound I've ever had. Quiet when the 5-0 is watching and absolutely RIPS when I go to dynamic and get on it.

Hey, I’ve got a downpipe from Modded Euros that’s a direct fit if you pick up the test pipe with it. TP is 180 and DP is 400.

You can have the DP for 220+shipping. Never installed in perfect condition.
