    Hey guys!

    So I was looking at the almighty ARMYTRIX F1 valvetronic exhaust and REALLY wanted one. I called the only Canadian distributor and he told me that for a whopping CAD $5400 I could be the proud loud owner of one of their exhaust systems. As I already have a CTS turbo back and actually love the sound of it, I abandoned the idea...

    Then, my buddy at the local speed shop told me about the possibility of installing a custom exhaust dump valve (EDV)... which:

    1) would sound satanic;
    2) would be cheaper than 5400$; and
    3) would actually be custom made for my CTS turboback.

    What do you guys think?

    Oh boy. Custom open downpipes are everywhere man, this is nothing new.

    You can buy a Y pipe and a couple clamps with a remote controlled flapper for a couple hundred.

    I was trying to go for the same sound as Armytrix too, but already had the AWE quad.

    I deleted the muffler, have a CTS turbo test pipe + downpipe and it sounds pretty mean.

    Still not sure if ill do a valve though, the loudness hasn't bothered me yet

    Opinion? An Audi should sound refined, not obnoxiously loud.

    Exactly my situation, and loving the sound right now... but yeah, I won't lie, I am kinda "uneasy" about them chopping my perfectly good CTS pipe to McGuyver a dump valvle in there.

    Agreed. But shouldn't it sound like a beast when required to?

    haha, how do you think I feel! AWE quad's costed me 1200$. But I still love the sound it makes

    I dont have a sound clip but an even cheaper option could be to do what I did...Highflow cat * Downpipe to non resonated 3" custom welded exhaust with just 2 mufflers out back. It sounds mean as hell.

    For Clarification, you're running Highflow Cat > Highflow Downpipe? (is there a resonator in place of the stock resonator?) > 3in Tubing to rear > 2 Mufflers

    Who makes the two rear mufflers?

    In the same exact boat with you there buddy! The idea of a $5400 exhaust is both out of my price range, and overall just expensive. I went to a custom exhaust shop in SFlorida and got a quote for mendrel bending a full exhaust for 700-800 (3" downpipe to dual port, quad tip 3" exhaust outlets.) I then sat on the idea for either a full exhaust or just the downpipe and ended up settling for the downpipe. Overtime I looked into ECV's (Electric Cutout Valve) and stumbled upon the Armytrix exhaust in which i thought was $6400 instead. For about $200 you can buy ECV's and position them where desired and wire a switch inside the cabin easily.

    On the general opinion, I would love for my car to sound like a nice high end supercar oem exhaust and not some fart can exhaust that is raspy at high revvs, but I would also love the option to dump the valves open when I cycle through 1st and 2nd gear and really hear it.
    Just my 2cents thou, to each its own right?

    Look what just arrived!!
    QTP was super fast on the delivery! You can't really see in the picture but the valve is actually super tight... I don't think there will be a lot of leak comming from it.
    So the plan is to mount it approximately at the center console and have the switch in the armrest compartment.

    Doing it tomorrow! I will upload vids for sure!
