    The dentist is drilling

Pretty disappointed that at only 90k miles on a stock tune my k03 is already going out... The drill starts up around 5Hg and hits full 10-11psi but then it's just embarrassingly loud. really hoping I have some kind of weird boost leak or something but all signs are pointing to end of life for this k03. Looks like my ME7.5 tuning suite money is going toward a new turbo for now

pm me if anyone has a k04-15 or a k03 in decent condition they'd let go for a reasonable price, or a good idea for a temporary solution to this problem. Is it safe to have the n75 disconnected for awhile? I drive this car pretty much every other day, maybe 20 miles each day.

How many miles on the car? that stinks as I am at 235k stage 1 at 180k and still running perfectly fine with original turbo. I'd say if you do anything it should be a K04 with a tune if you are looking for just some more power and dependability.

What are you trying to accomplish disconnecting the N75? If you don't have a boost gauge, I wouldn't disconnect it.

I have a boost gauge. To keep the wastegate open and allow the car to be driveable without risking completely blowing the k03.

Only 90k miles on the car. That's what I don't understand. I was trying to wait a few more months and finish piecing together a gt2871 or gt3076 kit but now it looks like I just need a turbo for the time being. Probably a k04, since it's all that will bolt onto my stock manifold and function without a tune right now. Might mess with it in maestro a bit but I know I'm not going to be impressed with the extremely minimal gains over a k03.

Just unplug the N75 harness. That will essentially keep you in limp mode. You will still get some boost and will still hear the noise, just not as much.

So I started pulling my tip off to check for bent fins or shaft play or whatever, and stopped as soon as I realized where the noise was probably coming from. at 90k miles, I would think my turbo is just fine.

First, here's the noise. Sounds more like an air leak than the dentist drill turbo sounds I've heard

    Now here's what I saw.

Now my question is, is it safe to drive with this hose leaking? its the hard line that goes along the back of the heatshield and up into that thing on top of the airbox i dont remember what its called.

I'll be ordering a new tip right now, I'm not seeing too many that are the stock k03 inlet size, other than the one from forge. anyone have one for sale? what spacers would I need to run the 034 one

The noise is from the hose that is ripped, nothing is wrong with your turbo.

but if you need a replacement K03 turbo i have 2...take your pick you know where I live, just toss me a few dollars. lol

That hose is part of your evap emissions system. It gives your evap fumes a place to go when your manifold is under boost.

The downside is that you are pulling unmetered air into your intake. Just drive gently until you can replace your TIP. The harder you drive the more unmetered air you will be pulling.

APR offers a silicon TIP as well. I have a Forge on one B6 and APR on the other. If I remember right the APR TIP is much stiffer and tougher to fit in place. Make sure you get the correct one for your model year since one type offers an extra connection for later model years. There's ways to make it work like plugging the hole but it would be easier to just get the correct one.

You have a late model B6 so you have 5 ports on the TIP. From 1 to 5: DV, N80 Evap, N75, PRV, SJP.

Thanks everyone. I'll be ordering the forge one from ecs, they only offer the apr ones for the 2002/2003's.

Put the new tip in, bad news. The noise is still there -___-
Didn't check out the fins or check for shaft play because I was so confident I fixed my problem, so I guess the next step is to pull this new tip back off. Anyone have any other thoughts on what it could be?
