Huge problems after removing ecu... PLEASE HELP

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello I have a b6 s4, jhm 93 tune. I have been getting an eeprom error with vagcom so I called jhm Motorsports and the gentleman instructed me to remove the ecu, then call back with the numbers on the inside. I did so, then called back, he had me further disassemble and completely take it apart revealing the green board. I was extremely gentle. Reassembled everything, I also took out each relay down there and looked at them then reinstalled them. Everything is now put back together and when I put the key in and start it starts for a brief second then immediately shuts off. I ran for codes and go every damn code in the book there's tons of them. I don't know where to begin. Should I unhook both battery cables and touch them to reset the ecu? Please please please help

I think JHM should be the ones to help, since following their instructions brought this problem on.

You may need to clear a code for immobilizer
Look at a few threads before: "Need help with Resetting either Immobolizer or the Cluster!"

Yeah it sounds like the immobilizer could be stopping the engine. Can you clear the codes and try again?

Did they give you any indication as to why this happened or what caused it? I'm getting ready to have mine tuned. ..

I just had the same problem, it started and ran for half a second to a second and shut off. I needed the Immobilizer, Cluster, Keys, and one other thing reprogrammed. Cost me $400..

I called jhm, the guy doesn't believe it's the immobilizer he advised me that the fuel pump may or may not have gone bad. If it were the fuel pump though, wouldn't it not start at all?

They advise you to perform task, now they are not accepting any responsibility? ??. Oh yes it could be the fuel pump, but if its not. ......

if it would be a fuel pump, car wouldnt start at all... or crank for a long time then start but it wouldnt die suddenly. it would take some time for it to die.

immobilizer will make your engine shut down quickly, just like turning the key does,
with a fuel pump failure, your engine will definitely miss/burble/run bad/whatever before stalling.

I can hear the fuel pump when I turn the key to the on position, and it is showing all signs of the immobilizer... I just don't get the dash light while trying to start it. All I want to do is drive my car!

Exactly like Lucca said: when my fuel pump went out on my B5, no start at all.

a fuel pump could be likely, however if the problem presented itself right after removing and reinstalling the ECU, there is a good chance the IMMO needs to be "reset" (correct term?) If you scan the car now, do you get "immobilizer prevented the vehicle from starting" code?

Also, is there any possibility that maybe I bent one of the prongs on the ecu plug while plugging it back in? I'm getting a ton of other codes that were not there prior to me removing the ecu. A few examples are air intake temp sensor, maf sensor, power supply terminal 30 too low, abs controller, power train data bus, engine control module sproradic and a ton of others

im sure anything is possible. Have you cleared the codes? (not the simple obd2 codes in the generic settings) I just don't see how unplugging it and plugging it back in could cause it to not work and cause a bunch of other codes that were not present before.... unless there is something else going on there.

i was going to purchase a used "tuned by JHM" ecu from someone here. He claims that the ecu can be coded to the IMMO through vagcom the same as if you just replaced the ECU. Maybe someone can expand on this?

Have you reset the immo code with vagcom yet? From reading through the thread it sounds like you still are yet to clear code with vagcom and attempt to start car again.

If you have tried this already my bad, just be how I read it

Yes I have done a complete vag scan, I use a foxwell nt500 and I have cleared all codes with vagcom. Nothing. The worst part is that the closest Audi dealer is 2+hours away. A tow there is gonna be a hefty price

So I pulled the ecu back out, the prongs were good. There's a 40amp fuse under there and it was blow. I put a new one in reinstalled the ecu then hooked the battery back up. The car started and ran kind weird, I did another vagcom scan and still got all the same codes. I shut the car off, then tried to start it again and same thing. It started then immediately died, and now when I try to start it, it turns over slow, then starts clicking. Any ideas? Please I feel stuck
