How to get a power to 12V Power Outlet When Ignition is Off?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've noticed the 12V power point shuts down when the ignition is turned off. Is there a setting to keep power to power outlet at all times?
I don't want to turning a car on every time when i need to use power outlet.

    Audi a6 c7

    Thanks.

There is power available in the instrument panel passenger side fuse box on my 2012 A7. The top row is hot all the time and the bottom row is ignition circuits. I have my dash cameras powered from there. You could install a power outlet in the glove box (I think there's room) and power it from the top row.

The only danger is if left on for an extended period, it run run the battery down. The dash cams are fed power from a Power Magic Pro (seen above the fuses) which disconnects the cameras when volts drop to 12 or 12.5 VDC. You can also set it to disconnect after a period of time - 6/12/18/24/36/48/72/120 hours.

It's a safety feature, for in case one plugs in a Samsung Note 7.

I think some custom wiring will be involved to make the 12V Power Outlet hot all the time. I have found this to be an issue also, must have ignition or accessory mode on (which times out).

Any clue which ones are battery vs switched on the drivers side? Naturally, I ran my V1 cables over there before I knew that.

Funny... Back in 2007 my Audi had the acc outlets on all the time and people complained cuz their radar detector's had to be turned off manually or had go disconnect their chargers before they left and now it's the opposite. Guess to each his own.

I'll have to double check but the radio power is typically hot all the time on Audis. If you have a DMM (volt meter) it would be really quick to find

I just installed a dedicated USB charging cable in my S6. I wanted constant power as well. This is my setup.

I plugged in a add-a-fuse on A/3 (CD/DVD Changer) thinking it was switched, but the 12v-5v buck converter drained the battery enough over 24H that I had to jump start. Need to do some more testing.
