Traction Control Light on After Spark Plug Change?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello, I drive a b6 s4, jhm93 octane tuned and some other jhm parts in there too, I just changed out my plugs from from the Bosch ones to the NGK iridium plugs. Got everything changed out, I double checked every electrical connection and everything is plugged in firmly. Any ideas why it might be doing this? It idles fine and drives fine, even better than before I changed the plugs

No pushing the button doesn't make any difference, and all of my fuses are good

I had this happen to mine, then I started driving it and the light turned off and it worked fine after that.

That being said, a scan with VCDS should tell the true story. I was headed to grab a bite to eat with my buddy who had helped me work on it, and planned to scan it after getting back, but it resolved itself.

Usually the ESP light on after a spark plug change is because of the MAF sensor. Most likely it is loose or was unplugged while the ignition was on. The ABS/ESP needs to see a signal from the MAF over the can bus from the Engine ECU.

Did you by chance disconnect the battery while replacing the spark plugs? Sounds crazy but some people do it as a safety step while doing simple automotive repairs and then the steering angle sensor needs to be recalibrated. That would turn on the ESP light too.

If you can please scan the 03-ABS module with a vagcom to see what the code is. If you don't have a vagcom then get one (because you should have one anyways) or check your regional board for a fellow member that has one and can scan your car.
