    Parts quantities

Hi, what's the best resource for identifying parts quantities? For example, the number of each type of bolt attaching the transmission to the engine. I didn't find this information on GAP's parts lists, and not all lists include all the fasteners. I want to be able to order the correct quantities for all the bolts/studs part numbers that I need.

Refreshing - I'm getting ready to order some more parts and wondered if there was a quantity list for nuts/bolts/etc. The crappy Audi parts lists I've seen don't show them. Is the Elsawin the only place that states whether bolts etc need to be replaced?

The Bentley manual has some info on whether it is a one time use bolt or not, and usually has the torques and all that. However it doesn't seem to have part numbers/overall quantities. Not sure about Elsawin, someone else can probably answer that.

My personal strategy is usually to scour the internet sources for part numbers, then use ECS or GAP to find what size each is (i.e. M10x105x26), and then buy the equivalent in bulk from McMaster or Fastenal to save $

Thanks Badger, good info. These Audi manuals are a poor effort on their part, much like their timing chain setup. If you'd like to see how it should be done, check out a Caterpillar manual from back in the day. Life-like drawings to scale, every purchasable part identified and with a quantity, supercessions on the same or next page - ordering parts is very easy.

Badger, I meant to ask, how do you find out the bolt's grade rating before buying from McMaster? Not sure I've seen that info anywhere in the manual
