    high mileage b5 s4

Hey guys ive found a 2000 b5 s4 in my area that has 200k+ miles on it for around 3000. He says he has the service records from 50k onwards and has owned it for 5 years. The water pump, timing belt, coils and bushings have been changed recently. Ive done alot of searching and only found a few people even talking about cars with this high of miles.

i have owned an s4 before and really enjoyed it, im also sick of having a car that i have no reason or desire to work on. Any insight on these cars when they get this high of mileage?

oh and its cactus green which i like very much. Thanks for any advice, or pointing me in the direction of some info.

There are multiple members on here with over 200k and no real issues aside from maintenance stuff. If the body is in good shape with no rust Id say offer 2k and be happy! Seriously, engines, trannys, interiors are all so cheap for these things now that why the hell not?

that seems like the general consensus. as long as its been maintained well everything should be alright, or atleast as alright as you can expect from these cars.

Seems like a solid price. If there's a stack of paperwork to go along with it, why not?

Mine was at 203k when I sold it, still ran fantastic but was going to need a new transmission/ rebuild soon. As long as it has been taken care of with proper maintenance, you will be fine.

At that mileage a trans rebuild should be budgeted for as a part of regular maintenance anyways

I'm about 200 miles away from 300,000 miles on mine, and it's very solid. Granted, I bought it at 286K with a lot of quality aftermarket parts for $5K and have put in quite a lot of preventative work and reconditioning. As with many of these cars, mine was not treated very well for a while but at the core, it was still a very solid car and there wasn't anything I could fix.

Bottom line, have a nice chunk of change set aside for the inevitable maintenance and repairs. But no one should let mileage scare them away, these are well built cars and can last a long long time. Mine and jballou's both have 300K miles and are going very strong.

Yep! I agree completely, if I had a garage to work on it myself I would have kept it.
