    Exhaust cutout placement

I have a 2014 S4 with the awe touring exhaust with stock downpipes, now bear with me here, anyone think it would be possible to install an electric cutout on the downpipes so that you could have normal functioning when it is closed and when it is open it could bypass the resonator on the downpipe, connect to the exhaust and act as a non-resonated downpipe. Now I am more than happy with my current setup this is just an idea for those moments when you want your car really loud and are not worried about drone. Hopefully this doesn't sound too crazy
Otherwise I was thinking about installing the cutouts before the rear resonators and give me that track edition sound when I want it.

Anything is possible with room and a good fabricator.

Saw this on a crappy hack job, but you could use the idea as a placement for cutouts.

I literally have the set up you're talking about on my car right now! So, YES it is 100% possible. Cutouts on my downpipes (installed from the previous owner) and AWE touring exhaust on my 6MT S4. Coming from full exhaust on my B7 S4 (NA V8) i do wish the AWE Touring was slightly louder. But my personal opinion is that the the open cutouts are obnoxiously loud, i never use them anymore. When the cutouts are open, i can't have a conversation in my car and a lot of things vibrate in the car. However, it is definitely good fun for a short periods of time!

If you're set on cutouts, i'd install then right before the rear mufflers, unless you want to be Nascar loud.

My next exhaust modification will be removing the cutouts along with the stock resonators on the downpipes and replacing with just a straight pipes. Essentially i'll have stock non-resonated downpipes. Some people have already done this mod with their S4s and are pleased with the results. Apparently the exhaust note will become deeper and louder with less/minimal/zero drone! Both gentlemen have manual cars not DSG.

Good Luck! I'm curious to hear which set up you go with and how you like it!
