    Does this part need recoding?

    Hi folks,

Had an issue with hazard lights constantly staying on, and draining the battery. Took my A4 to as garage, where they mentioned they has spoken to VAG that it was the Central Electric Control Module that was at fault (Part No. 8E0907279E)

I purchased a 2nd from Ebay (with the exact Part No. As I know they can change the Letter at the end on some). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1819936639...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The garage mentioned that this part would need re-coding once fitted? Is this the case? Someone else said it is plug & play. A little in the dark, and would appreciate some advice.

    Many thanks

The CCM will need to be coded, and its quite simple but requires VagCom.

Depending on what the shop is going to charge, you may be better off getting your own cable and DIY. Installing the module is quite simple as well.

The new CECM only needs recoding if the current coding is different than the original CECM coding.

How would I know if the coding is different?

    The link works for me.

To view the coding you will need VagCom.

What's the cheapest way to do this? Cheaper than the shop may charge?

Can anyone throw in some advice on reasonable priced software and cables?

Plugged in the part, and all lights seem to be working, hazards working as they should, car turns over. Is there anything else I need to check or is it all good? I'm guessing the part would just be playing dead if it needed recoding?

If everything is working, one would assume the coding is correct.
