    Brake Issues at 26K miles??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello Everyone,
I have a 2014 6spd B8.5 A4 S-Line with 26XXX miles on it . I have been getting brake noises in the mornings now for the past month, consistently. The sound is coming from the front right. My initial thought was that the brake pad has been worn down prematurely and is causing that side to give me the "replacement squeal". What brings up skepticism is the fact that the noise goes away after some driving, but sometimes it comes back . So I am confused as to if this is just the sound the OEM brakes make sometimes. I have not checked the pads yet, but plan on it this weekend . I remember seeing somewhere that somebody had a caliper that was seized so it was causing the opposite side to wear down at a much higher rate. I can say that I do not feel a pull in any direction, the brakes feel fully balanced and planted. I wanted to confront the all powerful Forum first to see if anyone else has run into this issue.

    Thanks in advance!

So, is it just sound? No stuttering when applying brakes, no pull to one side? If you want to take the time to pull the wheel/caliper and measure the thickness of the pads, compare it to the other side, then perhaps its just the pads you use.....I'm assuming these are the stock pads from the factory?

Yea, that's what gets me, the only fault is the sound. No pull, no stutter, to "uneven" feeling. Yes they are the stock OEM pads. Yea that was the plan this weekend, to compare the two sides.

OEM brakes notoriously squeal. Give 'em a good flush with water

    Brake Issues at 26K miles??

This happened to me with my 2014 A4 only had 10,000 + miles. I'm my case, my front rotors has some grooves and the edges were rusted. Dealer said to drive it more to burn the rust but never went away. I ended up changing all 4 brakes with OEM rotors and hawk pads HPS. Bought the A4 as CPO at 5,000 miles. The tech showed me the rear pads and they were almost gone. I don't put a lot of miles on my car and probably it was the rust that killed my brakes prematurely and the previous owner who probably drives like crazy.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll check them out this weekend. I was really hoping to get good use out of them until the summer when I plan on switching over to a bigger brake setup but I can't drive around with this noise much longer, its embarrassing . I'll have to get some new pads if they are worn out but if its some 'rusty edge' catching i'll try to sand it down for the time being.

Soaking the rotors with Sonax Wheel Cleaner and then pressure washing stopped a LOT of my squealing.

Bring it to the dealer. I had my rear pads and rotors replaced as a courtesy for a similar issue at 15k miles.

Had the same issue. Same side and only had 19k. I took it to the dealer bc the break pads were fine when I took off the wheel. They sanded down the pads and rotors and the sound went away.

Normal. My car did it at 30k before I replaced the front and rear pads with Akebono ceramic. All the loaner cars I've had had also had brake squeal to some degree. At the same time, there's nothing like the bite of the original pads! Thinking about going back to them once these wear out.
