Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello, I'm planning on adding a few modifications to this beaut, so I thought I'd create a build journal.

    Installed so far:

    RS6 Grille
    Injen Cold Air Intake
    Extreme Spoiler Spoiler
    Verde Axis V99 Rims (Sold)
    20% 3M FX Window Tint
    Verde Insignia Rims (Sold)
    Eibach Pro Kit
    RS6 Aftermarket front bumper
    Extreme Spoiler Roof Spoiler
    S-Line Steering Wheel
    Blaque Diamond BD-23 Wheels

    Next modifications on my radar:

Stage 2 Tune (Revo? Unitronic? APR?)
    AWE Tuning S-Flo Carbon Intake
    S-Tronic Shift Knob (scared)
    Paint caliper burnt copper (probably)
    Tint Tail Lights cherry red.
    Emblem Delete
Dip car Red? Vinyl Camo? (Maybe...)
    Winter set wheels
    Coilovers? Air Suspension?

    Log to Date

June 10 - MY WHEELS ARE FINALLY BUILT AND INSTALLED!
(More photos on page 2 or my instagram )

March 24 - So it's time to get rid of the Verde Insignia (buh bye stealth)

What do you guys think of these?

March 19 - S line steering wheel engage!

March 14 - The shop finally completed the RS6 front bumper.

    Impressions/Review:

    More photos in thread below.

March 14 - Rear roof spoiler installed.

March 11 - So I dropped off my car off at the shop today for the paint and install of my RS6 front bumper. I originally wanted to record a video of me installing it myself, but that didn't work out... If you want to know my first impression about this product, see post #38 below.

March 7 - My round s line steering wheel arrived all the way from Lithuania! Woohoo!

March 3 - Installed the Injen Cold Air Intake.

    Install and sound clips here:

March 1 - my roof spoiler came in!! No idea how this is going to turn out. I haven't seen one of these on an A6 yet.

Feb 28 - Eibach Pro Kits installed! They lowered my car 1.2" all around and are expected to drop further. I'll report back in a few weeks.

Mar 24 the springs have settled in at 1.5"

Feb 27 - Installed the new Verde Insignias today. Eibachs go on tomorrow.

Feb 25 - Finally installed my RS6 Grille. It was a pain in the butt...

I also got rid of the Verde Axis Wheels for the new Verde Insignias.

    My intake came in!

Feb 18th - I finally got to install my spoiler. Thanks ExtremeSpoiler!
more angle images in thread below of the spoiler.

    Here's a link to the review/install:
    https://youtu.be/h_yQildYZWY

Feb 17th - I removed the spoiler and added a carbon fiber patterned vinyl to the headlights.

Feb 12th - My RS6 Grille came in today. Should I leave it all black or put on a silver trim?

Feb 6th - Finally got the wheels installed today. Not sure how I feel about them. What do you guys think?

Feb 2nd - My spoiler came in painted and nicely packaged. Can't wait to see how well it fits.

Feb 2nd - My wheels finally came in... sorta. Amazon lost my fourth wheel. So I'll have to wait another week before I can put them on.

    Verde Axis V99 20x9

    Jan 29th - I added 20% 3M FX Premium Window Tint

Jan 12th- Her name Selena Gomez because she's beautiful and has a flat nose.

She's a 2013 A6 3.0T Prestige with the cold weather package. She's rocking that Oolong Grey exterior with a Nougat brown leather interior.

and she has a damn nice booty

Whole foods is a great spot for pictures. The Oolong should turn out really good.

Thank you. I got the tint done at National Auto Glass in Elmwood Park.

35% all around is the darkest legal tint in Illinois. I haven't really been bothered here in Chicago. I do have a doctors note, so I get a pass...

I'm thinking about making a video vlog to record my modification journey... Just for kicks.

Good stuff. I've always thought that bridge would be a great spot for a photo shoot.

Wheels look nice. Seems like too much fender gap. Sounds like your suspension mods should fix that. Looks good though.

Umbra Window tinting out in Schaumburg also does great work. I went to them since they do Formula One ceramic tint.

I did install it this weekend. It looks great! It gives the car a hint of aggressiveness without being too "LOOK AT ME!" Which I like...

I got it from extremespoiler.com . It's a new product so it's not up on their website just yet.

I made a video review on the spoiler but the audio was too messed up because of the wind. So I'm planning on redoing the video now that I have a new microphone.

It's best if you have a lift to start. I don't have directions but would have been a pain to do it on the ground with jacks. Even with a lift it still took me about an hour to get all the screws out to allow it to pull off. Heads up there is one screw on each side you have to access in the front wheel well area. You have to take out the front section of the wheel well cover to access the screws. Once you find them and they will probably be the last two since you can't find anything else holding it on. A flashlight will be a big help to locate the screws. It's really not that bad. Just takes a little patience.

Also is your RS6 grille OEM? I purchased the one from ECS. As the quality is nice I can't stand how far the four rings are extended out past the front of the grille. From a side view I think it looks ridiculous.

Sounds like a big undertaking... Thanks for the directions. I'll try installing it tomorrow when there's more light out.

Mine is not OEM. I actually didn't notice how far the rings stick out until you mentioned it lol. It is excessive. 😅😅

Can you post a picture of your grille? That silver trim looks pretty good.

I would post it but that is as far as I went. I decided to go the ÖEM route. You can not tell how far the rings stick from the pictures they provide. If they had a side view of the grille they probably would not sell as many. My new grill will be in from Germany in approx. 2 weeks. It's not a RS6 grille. Went with ÖEM S6 grille with European plate mount.

I had to remove my spoiler because it was misaligned from the first time I did it. So tomorrow, it's off to Home Depot to buy new 3m tape.

I'm also planning on getting new wheels. I love the look of the gunmetal, but there's just not enough contrast for my taste...

I did get my carbon fiber vinyl in today, so I put it on a few trim pieces like the side marker and radio knobs.

Yeah I've been taking photos on cloudier days to highlight the cars lines better, but this causes the car to appear darker. That's what I like about Oolong, it's like owning two colored cars. Black at night and dark grey on sunny days 🤓

Wheels came in today and went straight to the shop to install them. I was on the fence about the whole murdered out look, but it's crazy aggressive looking. Especially on 32mm.

I officially love the concave look. They are surprisingly concaved for being 9".

It got very late so they didn't have time to install my springs so I'll have to wait for tomorrow.

From what I can see it looks great! Can you post a side shot of the car before you get the springs installed? Also are you on stock sport or non-sport suspension? I'm shopping for wheels and trying to find setups I like. Thanks!

    Hey thank you!

I'm on non sport suspension. I'll try to find better lighting and take a shot. The one photo I took with the side profile you can't see anything. I will say though......currently as is, the thigh gap is strong.

Really cool to see another Oolong.

Does your A6 have HomeLink? If so, were you able to mount it to the grille? Any links to install instructions would be helpful. The car is lookin' sick! Great job.

    HackDevil Build Journal 2013 A6 3.0T Prestige

    Thanks you guys!

I ended up returning the Verde Axis wheels. There was nothing wrong with them. They look great and I got a lot of compliments on them. I just didn't like the shade of gun metal grey that they were painted. On any other colored A6 they would look better, but I wasn't in love with them for my Oolong.

So I was about to return them for the bronze version which I thought would've look great. Grey cars on bronze wheels are an amazing combo. But Verde finally released these Insignias that I have been dying to get my hands on. I have an idea for these that I want to try...

My idea is to paint the lip bronze similar to this style:

Hopefully this works out, because I haven't seen this done on our cars yet...

I change wheels pretty often, so I plan on attending a few shows this year with these on. Then I'll end up selling them before the start of next season.

The car dropped a total of 1.2" all around right after the install. I'm expecting it to drop a few once it settles in. Eibach claims up to 1.5"

Ride quality remains the same. Luxury. However, I'm still making U-turns like a 18 ft. Pontoon.

    Thanks Kagegann! Much appreciated.

I do have HomeLink, but I did not mount it to the grille. What I did was mounted the transponder? box right onto the crash bar. It works and you can't see it as it's mostly covered by the Audi rings.

I used this link that CreoSTI sent me as a guide:
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ll-RS6-Grille?

Some information was a little off, but some common sense helped me finish the job.

I was planning on recording my RS6 bumper install, I can send you a message when its done if you like.

    This is my initial impression.

I received the RS6 bumper last Monday and had a chance to check it out a bit before I left town for work.

The package arrived pretty beaten up. The contents luckily were unharmed.

The bumper came primered, but I wouldn't say ready to paint. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the imperfections.

There's quit a few rough spots on the bumper that I wouldn't paint over until it was sanded out. There was even 1 tiny hole, it can be filled in, but it was there.

The two lower grille felt like cheap hard plastic w/ no flex, and I'm not confident they'll survive if I hit something hefty enough. The front grille actually felt a bit lighter than the other RS6 grille I have on... I'm not confident that this grille will hold up either if something hefty hit it.

It did come with fake acc to fill in the lower grille. I'll most likely end up putting fog lights in there.

The side air duct in the lower grille and front lower lip were painted silver, although not a very thorough job. It's also made of hard plastic with no flex, so I'm not confident this will survive either if this hits something hefty enough.

My original goal was to have this painted and then do a video on the install. However, I'm not feeling too confident of the fit since they seemed to have cut corners.

I know this is a replica/aftermarket front bumper, but for $1,200 I expected a lot more in durability. I've paid $300 for a front aftermarket bodykit for my prior cars that would put this quality to shame.

Overall, my initial impression is that this bumper is not worth $1,200. There is quite a few parts that will most likely crack in a few years. I'm sure the pro shop will make it look decent. I'm sure it'll look good, hopefully for at least 2 years. But I'm keeping my stock bumper nearby, because I suspect that in a few years I'll be putting it back on regrettably.
