    Spotify and MMI

    Hello All,

I've been using Spotify to stream music for the past few months but I've recently run into some issues. For the past week I haven't been able to change tracks trough MMI or the volume/mute/next-track knob on the console. The car also no longer auto plays music when I enter and startup, I now need to manual re-launch Spotify on my phone and press play every time I enter.

I know these seem minor but they are pretty frustrating. Has anyone else had these issues or found a fix? I suppose its possible it was due to a recent Spotify update?

    Thanks

I'm sure you've tried this but if not try closing all apps on your phone and restarting your phone. I haven't had your issues but I have had some weirdness with Spotify and iTunes with the MMI. Sometimes (even if I was last using Spotify on my phone) my car starts playing music from the default Apple Music app. 90% of the time it continues with Spotify (or wherever I left off) but sometimes it just randomly picks the Apple Music app and I have to go and start playing music from Spotify manually.

I specifically don't use Spotify anymore because of issues like that. I use Google Play Music All Access almost exclusively. Every time I used Spotify for streaming it would eventually start having problems. The only way I found to fix it was to clear data from the app, which involved having to re-login and re-download any saved music. It was obnoxious. That was true for 3 straight cars (all different manufacturers) and 3 different phones (iPhone, Nexus 5, and Nexus 6), so I had to assume it was Spotify.

Since leaving Spotify, I've had zero problems with streaming music. Their development group is garbage.

I've been using Spotify with NO problems the past 2 years. LG G4 Lollipop. I use Tasker to autostart Spotify when it connects to the MMI via BT.

    Thanks for the input guys.

So I got it working after closing all apps, restarting phone, deleting my phone from known devices on the car and re-pairing my phone. I'll have to look into this Google Play music.
    Samsung Galaxy S5.

On a side note, when streaming music is there any way to change tracks on the steering wheel? I know you can change radio stations with the "mode" button and the scroll wheel but am I missing something?

    It's basically Spotify, but better.

You can only change songs via the MMI knob with streaming services.....not on the steering wheel unfortunately.
