Audi B7 A4 S-line Tiptronic Acceleration mis-shifting, not shifting correctly HELP!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So just yesterday I was driving my car and everything was great, then I decided to basically gun it off of a red light and once my car got to 2-3rd gear weird shit started to happen.
It would like redline then not shift, as if the clutch was disengaged then not allowing the gears to shift. My car made a couple of harsh clunks and I slowed down then it shifted correctly.
I can make the problem happen at anytime by flooring it, then once my RMPs get about 3500 my car stops accelerating but my engine is still revving up. I am not sure what the problem is, It sounds like from other posts I've read it might be a TC or PCV but I'm not sure, I am well out of warranty and I really want to try and rule out all options before going to Audi. My RPMs do jump slightly when cruising like motioned in this post http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...w-speeds/page4

Any help would be greatly appreciated I hope its nothing too serious. If it is I'm selling this damn thing.

Thats strange. Any sign of leaks around the CVT housing.

Not that I can tell, I'm looking at taking my car into the dealership later this week to see what they say... I can't figure out whats wrong for the life of me. All of my builds have been recently changed so I'm not sure where this issue is coming from.

good luck. no one can troubleshoot these transmissions. I suspect the dealer will just tell you to rebuild it for a huge amount of cash.

Personally I would take it to a good transmission shop. Never hurts to have the fluid changed. Most dealers and even indy shops know little to nothing about transmissions. Find a dedicated transmission shop who is familiar with the ZF-6HP.

Yup. Most transmissions are 'plug and play' and all they have to do is drop it in, reconnect. Dealers get their 'rebuilt' transmissions from various sources. Again, O.P., is your car Front-Trak or Quattro, and what year and miles???

If your transmission drives fine under normal acceleration with no slippage, my bet would be the Torque Converter since flooring it would produce torque. Common issue with Tips if read up on it here.

It doesn't drive fine under normal acceleration that's the bugger, the issue is only further confounded when I floor it. But even when I accelerate normally it shifts very strangely.

Some people will tell you not to flush it after a certain amount of miles as it can cause the transmission to fail. On the other hand, would you just not change your oil anymore if you went over the milage interval? No of course not you would change it asap. As transmission fluid breaks down, automatics can start acting very strange. It also could be some sort of sensor, low fluid, TCM, or anything. If nothing else go to your local auto parts store and get what codes they can read. Finding someone willing and able to work on ZF transmissions can be challenging sometimes.

Hey guys, finally got word back from my mechanic. It is a high and low pressure fuel pump issue. When accelerating quickly the high flow fuel pump would not engage so the engine would go into a safe mode and not allow a proper acceleration. Thank god its not that damn TC. Thank you everyone for your help!

If it was a trans ----used is the best bet from www.car-part.com or if ya really want to invest and keep the car for a long time. There are plenty of ZF rebuilders. The key is to determine if its a valve body issue (mechatronics unit) or a physical clutch discs and friction plates?
Thats where a really good shop can go a long way to determine which it is.

As for fluid changed causing probs---thats BS---I havent seen ONE instance of people on this board claiming that a fluid change caused their issues. Usually the fluid change comes after there are issues and by then is too late!!
