    I have a 2014 Audi A4 FWD B8.5

I am going to install intake, test pipe and downpipe. I want to go with Stage 2 tune so gain some HP's in my life.

Anyone else on the forum have a B8.5 and/or FWD CVT that is tuned. Opinions on tune???

    Please and Thank you.

you might want to invest in a flame shield before a tune

If you have FWD with the CVT I would advise against tuning it... those transmissions are frail enough as it is. But yes the B8.5 tunes are pretty standardized would theoretically work.

I called Unitronic, they don't have an ETA for their Gen 3 Stage 1 tune yet.

It will be available to use via their Uniconnect cable. I'll be patiently waiting.

How can you check which engine you have? Was wondering the same thing as the OP and only questioned it because I saw the two different options on Unitronics website.
    I also have a 2014, but it's a Quattro Prestige.

I dont believe there is a Gen 3 motor in a B8.5 in the US. You almost certainly have a Gen 2 motor. All the main companies have a tune, downpipes for a4's from 2009-2015 are interchangeable.

Easiest way to figure out what engine you have is look at picture of a 2013 A4, and look at yours. If they look the same then you've answered your own question about the engine model.

Also, if your FWD is CVT then you bought the wrong car to tune. The CVTs will not hold up with upgraded power, be warned.

    I've got a 15 A4 Quattro, I'm not positive if I need the Gen 3 tune.

How does one find out if they don't have a Vagcom?

I've been under the impression that the Gen 3 motors were the 1.8's used in the new A3's.

Wonder why you think they are frail? I floor it constantly in sport mode and auto shifting and it runs like a top.

Historically they are terrible transmissions for tuning. Lower torque handling capabilities and much more prone to failure than Quattro transmissions.

Like I said I'm only thinking stage 2, Test pipe/downpipe, and intake. I don't plan on ever doing the turbo upgrade or anything.

What he said. Wouldn't be worth the money, IMO, I'd suggest picking up a Quattro to mod if that's what you want to do with it. Stage 2 is awesome, but a.) ~300 hp is a lot through the front wheels of any car and b.) I'd have serious transmission longevity concerns.

Well I feel like an idiot. I believe I answered my own question. The Audi A4 B8.5 US is only Gen 2. The Gen 3 is in the A3/S3 and the Euro B8/B8.5 I believe.
Photo's of the Gen 3 engines below. That being said I guess I can get a normal 2.0L B8 tune from any company lol.

Gen 3 is MQB platform. 2017 A4 will have Miller cycle 2.0L currently found in the base A6 good for 252hp. APR/GIAC/Uni/Revo have yet to release anything for the miller yet.
