Can anyone help me with Ecu software identifying?

I bought a stage 3 2000 s4 that is supposed to be APR. I am currently trying to diagnose misfires and I not totally convinced it's not from the tune. Can you help me identify the software? Also, what Ecu do I need to buy to make this stock again to rule out apr? The part on the Ecu shows A but vag com shows M

Ecu could be flashed. Not chipped

Someone with APR software needs to chime in. If it's APR you should be able to play with the cruise control and switch modes.
Stock engine with some rods tossed in. 11.25@132mph.

You could use the nefmoto software and read the ecu .BIN (ecu file) Then compare it to a stock ecu file

FYI, doing this to some softwares (like REVO) will put the car into limp mode because it writes to the eeprom which files like GIAC/REVO/APR use to protect their software.

I would highly suggest saving the eeprom before doing any reading/writing.

When I had an APR Stage 2 ECU back in the days. I noticed my ECU had an APR chip on it. Which had the APR name on it as well. And you can only switch modes if you paid for that option. Nowadays the ECU can be flashed via remote. So, not all ECU's had the APR logo/chip. Hope some of this info is helpful.

So I tried contacting apr to see if they could shed some like using the vin number and they say they don't do it like that and I'd have to bring it to a auth dealer... I'd rather try it myself I think

After doing some research, it seems the M box and H boxes are compatible if you code a block using vagcom. My totaled stage 1 is the H box, so, I will be swapping the injectors, Ecu, maf, and intake to get back to at least a stage 1 tune so I can continue to diagnose my rough idle. That way I can rule out a bad tune. It's frustrating not know about all the crap the guy did to this car and when I ask he gives me vague answers like he doesn't really know much about it... Maybe he truly doesn't but he managed to engine swap and install clutch, k04s, etc. looks like I have a little work to do
