Cool Need opinions on mods for performance, esthetic interior/exterior!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    So first, Hello everyone!

New to this overall Audi world. I totaled my car 1 month ago(oops) and i had to look for a new one. I couldn't make up my mind on either a used car at 15-20k OR a brand new car at 30k. I finally found a nicely priced Audi A4 2012 S-Line with the Nav option and the B&O audio system! It barely have 40 000 kilometer.

I'll get my car in 3 weeks and I can't stop looking at what I can do onto it to make it look even better, more dynamics and cool gadget. I found quite a couple interesting threads here and there! I need some opinion even thought esthetic is all about personnal preference. Also, *for now*, I'm not looking into big pricey mod!

    First,

    • Exterior

    1- Front grill

I guess you must know the color first, it's Monsoon Grey. Not the prettiest color imo but it's not bad either! I'm thinking to first change the front grill because where i live, we do not need the front license plate. I was thinking about a S4 honeycomb style grill but im not sure about all black with the frame too OR black honeycomb with chrome surround frame. What do you guys think about this? I do not have the summer wheels yet so the rims doesn't affect the grill color choice. I was thinking that if i go with the complete black grill, i probably should wrap the window chrome trim to black as well then... then if i do that maybe the 4 rear rings too? At this point... debadge the rear A4 and 2.0T quattro? On the other end, the chromed frame black honeycomb grill. If this is the one you like more... would you change the mirror too for the s4 so it has the brushed silver color too? in this case i probably wouldn't debadge the rear to keep the chrome going. (i think auditd0rk's car look really nice, i hope it's alright(authorized) to post a picture of his car down here. Not sure his set up would look that great on my Monsoon color)

    2- Summer exclusive wheels

I really can't make a choice yet for these... I could have a deal on S4 19'' wheels but I think i'd rather have something else. Especially depending on the grill complete black grill or even for the chrome one... Which type of wheels would you guys see on a Monsoon A4?(specify the color of grill with it)

    3- Others?

I think that's it for the exterior look for now... tint the window if they aren't done for sure. I wouldn't drop the suspension for the look or driving advantage due to our really really poor routes conditions! Tell me you opinions on other esthetic exterior mods...

    • Interior

    4- audienthusiasts projects

I really like the couple project onto audienthusiasts, i might plan on doing these: glovebox cooler(if its under 30$ like they say), upgrade alarm?(can any1 tell me more details about this?), door pocket led, maybe change some leds on the MMI, folding mirror(question about this, does s4 mirror has that mechanism?), under seat storage bin(does it fit a S-line model and does it look cheap?)... anyone did any of these?

    5- VagCom mods

... That's cool! Led turn off on signal, i want them on but is it better to atleast have them dimmed or its just fine at full brightness? sweep needle, windows control with key, VIM on mmi(how does that work once enabled?)

    6- Anything else?

anything else you guys did inside?

    • Performance

    7- Stage 1

Probably will do stage 1 since it's really good bang for the bucks.

    8- Something else?

Anything else that can help the dynamics for cheappppppp?

    • Other questions:

    9- Misc

After mentionning all the above... should I get myself a Ross-Tech vagcom cable or just go 2-3 times to my local audi mechanic to change the couple settings? I'm planning to keep this car for a long time unless i get a terrible experience with it which i doubt!

    Bottom line...
Really appreciate if you read all this to help me out

I'll post some picture of my car once i get my hands on it... for now, here's auditd0rk A4 which i mentioned in question 1!

Hello Stubek... i obviously didn't want to annoy everyone with my excitement off my new car and repetitive questions but i thought i could get fair opinion on what i plan to do OVERALL as a good and cheap startup VS what people did... and also what people like in term of preference for the Monsoon color with mags and grill. I still gotcha and i'll take care and try to not start new thread with old question. (even thought b8 are 7years old and probably 99% of questions has already been posted here and it's kind of really hard sometime to get the opinion you really want to!)

Thank you very much man... i did read alot about the vag com cable vs the ebay cheap one which often has problem and doesn't worth it but i didn't see the carista app once in my research yet so thanks alot for pointing that out! I'm actually doing a research on it... it seems like it does all the basic but at that point... since it's really only the basic, i wondering if i should get those done by my mechanic for something like 15-20$ and then move on until i run into real error and then grab a vag com, unless carista can completely read error and help on that side?

Beside that... anyone has any opinion on the car posted up there? Mine is a S Line tho and the grey is a bit more pale. I think the whole black trim thing would make it look classy and less standard as the S-line normally already comes with all those chrome trims and mags. I could get those wheels for 180$ each. Or should i just get the chrome grill and wrap up the chrome with black so if i ever change my mind.. i peel it off? For the wheels, 19'' or 20''? is the 20'' really hard driving with stock coil springs?

If anyone has a grey A4 post it up :)

Yes, carista can do a full diagnostic scan. Excuse me on my post, i meant windows, not mirrors. If youre planning on doing major tuning then you might as well get the rosstech cable.

Ive enabled remote windows/sunroof, wink, needle sweep, no warning on gps, disable seatbelt chime, enable footwell lights on carista.

You can wrap your trim with vinyl. I wrapped mine in wood.

I might just go ahead with the carista if it gives full diagnostic because beside all the mods you said... i wont do much more except diagnostic when needed... thanks alot mate.

Beside this JeriQo, you like the look of the grey audi i posted up there or you prefer chrome trim?

Don't worry so much about what other people think of different colors/ color combos of the car and grille. Every one has a different opinion. If you like it, that's all that really matters

Welcome and I believe there is a thread around here that is dedicated to monsoon gray. That color is nothing to be ashamed of! It's perfect!! I like silver concave 19" wheels with chrome on these cars and a mild drop. Wheels are hard to pick but pretty much anything looks good with a drop ;)

Get a heat gun, take apart headlights, and paint or vinyl the amber. Easy, cheap, huge improvement. Search jcode headlight mod.

Thanks for all those details JeriQo ! Keep them ideas coming! Thats the kind of cheap cool mods to do... i also saw the B&O sub replacement which apparently reallllly worth it and barely cost a hundred!
