How much can I get out of k04's?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Debating on many things with my car right now and the biggest dilemma is the turbos.

I know going with k04's is the cheapest route. But is it really worth it? How far could I take these turbos.

What do I need to hit 350, 400, 450+ Hp?

Would. You guys recommend waiting a bit and getting a different setup? If so what are some other great options?

    Thanks 😊

You have to upgrade more with them so it will be more expensive, it depends on what your goals are.

How much do you think it'd take for k04's to reach those Hp numbers I showed above?

Did you seriously ask "what can you get out of k04s?" That question has been beat to death so many time it's not even funny. There is so much data on this website alone with every possible scenario describing the power output of said turbos.

K04's are not the cheapest, if you purchase Borg Warner. If you are trying to get a lot of power they aren't a good choice since they are on the small side of the options that you've got. On the other hand if you can settle for around 400 whp they'll be the fastest responding turbo's you can get for the power level, which is a nice thing for a daily driven car.

Not necessarily, you're going to need pretty similar supporting mods for either k04s or k24s.

Obviously you'll need a lot more to max out the k24s though, internals, custom fueling, etc

Thanks flyboy. What's the cheapest option btw?
The car is my daily right now and I know I would be satisfied with 400hp for a while. But in the long run, if I was to look to get more power. Would I most likely have to rid of those and move on? Seems like.

Dont want to correct you or anything but to clarify k24's on e85 over 500 whp. Dont know anyone to get that on 93. Aysix hit 480 on 93 + meth.

    **I wish i got 500whp

If you are going to drive it on the street, look into frankenturbo f21s.
I think you give up too much on the bottom for what gains you see on the top with anything larger.
You can do good things with the big turbos, but bolting them on a stock engine is usually not one of them.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

OEK KO4s, OEM inlets, good intercoolers, good 3 inch DP's and a quality exhaust = a solid 400+whp daily drivable car. This is the way to go.

Was also another valid option. How would the feel as a daily though?

Exactly. Won't take you long to find info. Just a thought. Google is your friend.

Do you have a budget? K04's on stock fueling and tuned accordingly will allow you to save on supporting mods for the time being.

If it helps any I made 400 awhp exactly on 034's old dyno jet at Iroz motorsports here in Las Vegas during mid summer. On a mustang dyno it supposedly yields 7%, so 430ish? I am BW K04's, SRM intercoolers with Daz tuning on a conservative end. I am also on E85, which is what gets you into the 400's. I have a build thread if you need to see the details of my build. Like i said it is pretty basic and the car is a daily and one hell of a reliable car. I'd say I have been pretty lucky.

93 + meth can get you a bit further than straight pump. Still doesn't compare to e85 though.

You should try to go to some meets and meet up some fellow B5 S4's in your area. And hopefully, someone there will have a stage 3 you can ride in. And you can decide from there. To bad you don't have an E85 station near your place. Once you feel the difference from 91, 93 and E85. You will see why E85 is so special. The corn juice is just magic I tell you.

I agree with xalents23. The corn is a beautiful thing. During tuning I was initially tuned for 91. It was to get small things sorted out, and empty the tank in order to switch over to E85. On 91 octane I thought the car was a beast....but when the tank went empty and I filled it up with E85, flashed the new tune and hit boost my mind was blown. It almost broke my neck. Crazy suggestion, but why not buy a 55 gallon drum and drive down to somewhere with E and fill it up and store it?

Well mostly because I think for the time being just 94+meth could do the trick. I know once I try the e85 I'll be hooked. And I'll probably be making trips to fill up some Jerrys
