    Is there a good reason they put the breather filter right in the way of the air intake?

    So it looks like the drilled the neck of the Supercharger housing. So often you see it in the intake tube but on these motors that might be the best place. The supercharger will mix the charge nicely.

    It's a car we built for a customer. It is currently running :

    Unitronic Pulley and stage 2+ software
    CTS Intake and Catback
    WaterMeth
    And obvisouly NOS!

    We will have to do DSG software and hope it solves the clutch slipping when we run nitrous. We are only running a wet 35 shot, the goal was use the nitrous as a chemical intercooler more than a performance booster to start and maybe go bigger after. We should have 034 testpipes, coolant separation and more agressive software from unitronic once the clutch slip is dealt with.

    No quarter miles pass yet as there's still quite a bit of snow on the ground, but once spring comes you can be sure there's gonna be a couple pass with and without nitrous.

    Are you going to run meth and nos together or just NOS when you want a little something extra?

    Running meth all the time, meth and nitrous when spraying, keeping detonation away is always useful.

    Nitrous is sprayed after the rotors to maximise cooling effect and limit the chances of fuel puddling. Meth is sprayed before rotors because it actually helps with compressor efficiency. And indeed the combinaison of water meth and the fuel from the wet shot too... should definately help with the carbon build up.

    So why are the clutches slipping.? Are they slipping with stage 2 or just with the meth injection? And why are you running meth. Ive never seen anyone that DD's their cars run meth unless its needed due to environment. But From all thats out there its really not needed.

    Clutch are only slipping when spraying, still factory dsg programming though, I hope with new software we should get rid of the slippage.

    Plenty of advantages running water/meth injection : lower intake charge temperature (like a better intercooler) detonation prevention (less timing pull! more power!) and a denser air going into the charger as well as the water not being compressible means in testing done years ago we saw as much as 1.5psi gain (I did that testing years and years ago but if you're interested usrt website as plenty of gold on water meth).

    I run meth all the time. And I dd my car it just helps with cooling and I notice timing doesn't pull as much when its hot out.

    there has been talks on several other root supercharger performance forums that spraying prerotors the meth will eat away the teflon lining on the rotors and eventually lead to failure. Have you seen any such case?

    Most of the testing was with centrifugal superchargers and turbochargers where even after 30 000 miles we hadn't seen any signs of blade erosion. Honda K-Series guys have been running meth pre chargers for a long time and the good old v8 guys have had the carb on top of the charger for decades.

    Earlier minis didn't have the teflon coating and mini eventually added the coating to help prolong the life of the charger and quiet it down a bit too. So IF the coating was to wear away, you would be in theory decreasing the potential life of the charger, just like when you spin it faster with a smaller pulley. These chargers have been proven reliable however and we have done a supercharged RS4 running meth pre charger and he has donne over 40 000 miles with the setup and sign of wear when we pulled the charger last week (going direct port).

    Plan is to eventually go direct port on this s4 as well, however we would still keep the pre charger nozzle.

    The Teflon coating on the rotors has no negative effect on the rotors...the edges of the rotors will be missing the coating on any car (with or without meth) from normal wear due to tight clearances.

    Yea I would think if the program ups the pressure of the fluid you should be fine with the nos shot your running. Would be interesting to see if it will fix the problem.

    Gotcha. I just haven't heard of people complaining about timing being pulled unless it was crazy hot out or the GIAC software issue with the B8.5's.

    May i ask how come upgraded heat exchange is not in the list?
    or the meth injection is effectively doing it job keep the IAT down??

    coz i am split between a upgraded heat exchange (higher cost) and meth injection?

    We are doing a coolant separation (the good old bmw power steering reservoir) but so far no need for more cooling with meth and NOS. Once temperatures go above freezing we'll do logs and see if the need is there.

    Snow just melted, new parts installed: 034 test pipes, jhm carnk pulley (twin pulley setup) unitronic DSG software to fix the clutch slip. Some more tuning needed with the twin pulley setup but car is fast.
