    License Plate Light Delima

    Hey Gang,

My license plate lights recently went out. Just preceding the event the dash light went on and it beeped non-stop (which it is only suppose to beep once). I disconnected the battery and it stopped. All along the license plate lights were ON, yes both. I will add that I switched to LED from ecstune last year.

During the process of trying to figure out why the warning light was on while the license plate lights WORKED, I removed the license plate lights to check connections. Reinstalled and now they don't work at all.

I measured voltage to the tabs in the light frame it I am getting 1.3 volts (versus 12v).

I checked the wiring harness that connects the license plate light bezel to the wiring harness in the trunk lid. There are 4 pins. 2 pins show 12 volt (left side) and 2 pins show 1.5 volt (the light grey wire). I traced the light grey wire that is showing 1.5 volts to where it comes into the trunk lid and 1.5 volts there also.

My assumption is the 2 pins that do have power are for the trunk release and the 2 pins with only 1.5 volts must be leading to the license lights. Does this sound correct? Or is it a possibility the line with 1.5 v is some kind of a switch on signal??

Any input is appreciated and thoughts on what my problem is.

    Thanks.

    Jeff

Not a huge help, but that's how one of mine failed. Lamp was on, and so was the failure indicator. I didn't troubleshoot it though, just replaced the LED lamps under warranty.
