A6 and RS6 C8 probably won't launch at the same year. If new A6 does launch in 2018, the earliest schedule for RS6 might be 2020.

Audi Wynnewood in Philly has an RS7 Performance awaiting release from port. Considering the aftermarket cost of OEM ceramics, $135k sounds like a bargain haha.

That's not what the head of aoa literally said. Apparently they are still "working" to bring it here. They have been trying to get the rs6 here for many years now so I don't actually think he said anything new. It's easy to read into things when you really want it to be true. I feel ya...

For all the guys drooling over this (and rightfully so), do you really hate the 7 body style so much that you would rather buy a station wagon?

Don't get me wrong, this is the most badass of all station wagons, but I just can't see how it looks sexier than the 7 body style. Don't think we're ever going to see an RS6 sedan and I could hear good arguments there.... but... ehhhh... you know? Anyone agree with me?

Does Audi really think the avant would sell more then a sedan version in the states?

Most of the people who cry over not having a wagon available on the states side are all talk. The sale number doesn't really show that they can sell. Mercedes and BMW can afford to bring the wagons because they can offset the cost with the sales from other models which is unsurprisingly are sedan and SUV. Though I would say that for some models that are for nitche market to begin with like RS models, they can simply bring whatever version from Europe to here without making them a sedan. Customers in that segment are more likely to buy anything with top performance.

<Big sigh> It's opinions like this why we don't have them. Someone else speaking for the masses, incorrectly.

Yes, I HATE the A7/S7/RS7 look and would MUCH MUCH prefer the Avant every single time. First off, don't ever call it a station wagon. Second, the A7/S7/RS7 was a departure from Audi styling. The rear body lines are non-Audi to me. I despise the rear end entirely as far as style goes. I realize everyone has opinions and for many, this was the first Audi they ever liked. I would say those people are not the traditional Audi buyers. I think the tradionalist came to Audi because of their understated appeal, of which, Avants are the pinnacle of, the RS6 in particular being the top of that line.

Currently, there is no RS6 sedan, only the Avant. If you are calling the RS7 a RS6 sedan, stop it. Will Audi make another RS6 sedan like with the C5 and C6? Maybe. That might be what you meant. I do still think the RS7 would outsell the RS6, sure, but I also think 99% of the public is stupid.

MB brings in top of the line "wagons" but in very limited numbers. I wish Audi would just do that. I know there are all the federalization laws that make that exceedingly expensive but if Benz can do it, why can't AoA? I myself would love to be able to buy a C7RS6 (Avant). /End rant.

That's what my Q7 is for, but I get you! Even that kind of made me sad getting rid of the SQ5 (fun as hell to drive) for the third row and third child.
Just wondering how many would actually pull the trigger on this. Tough for me to get past the whole wagon thing. We're excited because something new might be coming stateside, but side by side with an RS7 and not sure how much practicality is going to factor in when we're talking $130,000. Practical and $130k don't normally go together in the same sentence, but I know everyone is different.

I figure I'll keep my S4 until I see what cards Audi has in their hand. I was leaning towards an RS7 because I love them but if the RS6 Avant comes it's a no brainer for me. I love the lines on it and if it's a no show I'll steal a new R8......

    S4, RS4x2, TTRS, RS7...yup, i'm not the traditional audi buyer ;)

I think the people making the most noise about the RS6 in north america are the keyboard heroes who have zero intention of actually buying one.

Audi is making a good financial decision by not bringing it here, but they are also pissing off some loyal customers(albeit a very small number who would actually purchase one).

I pointed out there is no such thing as a C7RS6 sedan. So what are you saying? Audi should build an RS6 sedan and not bring the Avant with the C8? Personally, I'm glad to see the B9RS4 and C7RS6 only come in Avants but it would a heck of a lot better if they actually brought them to the states.
Do you know what forum you're posting in? Of course we all know that the RS7 is not the sedan version of an RS6.
My point was if you had an RS7 on the showroom floor right next to a RS6 and they both had the same sticker price... how many people are choosing the RS6 Avant?
Shit, that was my only question from the start. Do people really love these more than the RS7?

Obviously you do. So there's one, and then another guy responded -- so two. It's OK to just speak for yourself as I did for myself.

And it's one thing to say you WOULD buy the car, that you love Avants, etc... but are you or would you be in the $130k car market? I'm talking about these actually being bought and driven off the lot, not yearned for on an internet forum.

Audi is making a good financial decision by not bringing it here, but they are also pissing off some loyal customers(albeit a very small number who would actually purchase one).
    This. Spot on.

Yup. I talked to the owner of a dealership here. He said the same thing- most of the people who say they want it so bad, its mainly because they dont get it here and for the few who really want it, AoA doesn't see it profitable enough to send cars for crash tests and other certifications just to sell a few every year. Human nature is to yearn for what you are kept away from. I have loved the avant design since a long time. I would jump onto the A or S avant since the RS doesnt fit in my planned budget at this moment. If it did, I would be in an RS7 right now. Lol.

I'm not convinced there are fewer people who would buy them compared to the E63AMG wagon. The RS6 is a much better looking vehicle imo (most would agree with this, even benz owners do from what i have seen), so i think there is a case to be made for them to bring it if MB does as well.

I spoke to someone very high up the food chain here in Canada about the RS6 and he told me he could sell 50 of them tomorrow if it was possible. Now this is all pent up demand right now, and then future sales would be at a trickle, but translate that into US numbers at we're looking at up to 500 of them being sold potentially. Maybe not a sound financial decision for Audi, but I want the company i buy my car from to be a little nuts and do things for the fun of it, as long as it's not very detrimental, like me :)

For those of us on the tall side (I'm 6'5") its either the Avant or the Salon. I don't fit in the A7/S7/RS7...

I don't have the coin. Anything above $60k is pretty much out of my league. But if I had the coin, I'd take the RS6 over the RS7 in a heartbeat. There is a market here for this car, albeit a small one. I find it hard to believe that even with small sales they couldn't recoup the costs of importing it. I've been keeping my eyes open for a lightly used E63 wagon for the right price...one day!

@Tony, I don't hate the stylings of the RS7 but it doesn't speak to the same way as the RS6 would - now given the fact that I can't get it here I'll go with a RS7 because I don't mind it. Need to see when my car is at the dealer if I have that "i love it, i need it" sensation.

I hear ya! Honestly, I was the guy with the S6 saying "I just dont like the RS7 body style" and now that I have one -- whether it's trying to rationalize my purchase or w/e -- I can't get enough of it. When I drive past a building with big windows and can see the car in the reflection, I really like how it looks. Maybe just because I think it looks more like a supercar and I have a bit of an ego. :D

Haha. I have a plain simple A6 and I look at it's reflections in buildings, other vehicles that I am passing and at times even the shadow thats cast on the median concrete boulders. I dont know what I'd do with an RS6/7.
