    Control arm bushing?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I installed H&R Sport springs on my car yesterday and noticed the control arm bushings are worn/cracking. They are on the smaller side so that may be normal, but the car only has 40k. New oem arms are $350 each and bushings are $50 each from my local dealer. Input on aftermarket arms?

If you are on Sport springs, you may want to go with adjustable arms like the SPC's (you'll be around -2 degrees with those springs). Otherwise, OEM bushings or Meyle HD arms/bushings are good options.

You can swap bushings with whiteline.
They make stiffer ones than stock - you can get the eccentric ones or centered ones.
Both upgrades over OEM and will last longer.

I don't know when exactly you bought your car. But if it has warranty and the dealer is friendly you can claim that they are busted/torn and might get warranty replacement. If not I would go with the bushing and just replace them, Since it seems like you know what your doing due to your Caddy. I would just buy the ones you can press in to save you some coin for something else. Unless you have no way to press them out and back in again. Then I would go with new HD arms.

I thought about warranty thru the dealer, but I'm not sure how many years/miles were issued from the factory on 2011's. Figured it was worth a phone call to them atleast. I don't have a press so after looking at the options, I would use the mylie hd units...they look nice for the price.

I keep forgetting about the Whiteline bushings. I may give them a try soon. I've used their bushings on other cars, and been very happy with the results. The eccentric bushing that allows for some (fixed) camber adjustment is a nice option.

Are u sure they are really cracked/worn? I replaced mine at 7,000 miles, and less than a year old, for adjustable UCAs so I could add more camber. My first impression was that they were cracked as I could see white dust laying in the "cracks" but after getting them out and getting a closer look, they were fine. After looking into the design, it surprises me that they don't rip on the first day, but it is some high quality rubber. It wouldn't hurt to replace now anyway, they will eventually become a problem. Good luck
