    Another Silver A4 Avant

Hey so I just picked up my second car which is my second Audi, a 1999 A4 1.8TQM Avant! My last car was a 99.5 A4 2.8 auto so I know a little bit about the B5 platform. So a few things about my Avant: it has a H&R lowering cup kit and 17 inch Avus wheels, a Eurodyne "stage 1" tune which supposedly makes 205HP and 245TQ, and an aftermarket down pipe and gutted cat. No rust and the underbody is great but it does need an e-brake cable and a fuel level sensor but other than that it's great. Very happy with my purchase so here's some pics from the 350 mile drive home and I'm glad to be a part of the Avant fam!

Thanks guys I love it too! So this morning I threw in my warm air intake just for fun and replaced the old yellow coolant res with a new one.
    Before
    After
And now I'm doing the clear corner mod because I'm not a big fan of those orange blinkers.

I'm thinking about getting some mud flaps/guards since I have a quarter mile dirt driveway and I'm tired of wiping all the mud off my fenders and doors. So I did some research and some people made claims that the B6 molded mud guards can fit with some modification but I haven't seen anyone actually prove that it's true... So does anybody have any insight on this and maybe even some pics?

Anyone know how to replace the lights in the 99.5 dash? My 0-40mph and 5-7k rpm is unlit. I have the dash apart already but I don't see any spots to put in the new lights.

So I have to replace my left parking brake cable but I can't quite figure out how to rip the thing out. I've got it disconnected from both sides but it seems to be connected up under the car but near where it goes into the cabin. Some people say I need to drop the exhaust... Anybody had any experience with this?

Drop the exhaust. You have it disconnected from the lower control arm? That is by far the hardest part

No I don't have it disconnected from the lower control arm yet, just from the caliper. After I drop the exhaust, can I just rip it out or do I have to unscrew or untwist other stuff?

You also have to take apart the center console in the car to reach the hand brake mechanism and then unbolt the box from under the car.

To release from the lower control arm you must break the plastic tab holding the line by the caliper and then break a section off of the bulged part of the line to get it through the control arm. Without doing that you'll be spending hours wondering why it won't come out.

There's more info on my S4 build thread if you need more detail

I got the plastic off the cable and removed it from the control arm but the bolts on my exhaust are way too rusty and I don't have anything to cut them off with so I guess I'll be taking it to the shop anyways :/

Just repaired my fuel level sending units wire since it was causing a jumpy gauge and was 100% inaccurate. Overall the whole job only took about 1.5 hours... bad solder pic incoming lol

Went to start the car today and no lights were on and no sounds when I turned the key. I'm assuming it's just the battery since there were no electronics.

    Another Silver A4 Avant

    Mini update:
Installed a boost gauge and I'm pushing 11psi WOT. Installed a cone intake for more turbo and DV noise and massive HP gains lol. Also got some "new" wheels for free! They're MSW designed by OZ. 17x8 and about 2mm of tread left but I still love them!
But... One of my left rear lug nuts is seized and rounded off and won't come out even with the special tool. Off to the shop again tomorrow.

So I've taken a little break from putting money into my car but I've gathered up some cash and I think I'd like to do an exhaust mod. The question is... What to do! I'd like a low rumble and something that is somewhat loud. Originally I was thinking full turbo back but I don't wanna spend that much. Now I'm thinking of just upgrading the resonator to the Magnaflow 14815 and maybe something to replace the cat. Any suggestions? (It already has an upgraded downpipe and gutted cat)

That muffler will give you a nice deep growl without having to modify the cats at all! If you wanted a little more volume, you could also look into adding one of our center resonators in place of your stock one. If we can answer any other questions or help with sizing, feel free to drop us a PM!

    Thanks Nolly!!

Just got her off the lift and IM IN LOVE!!
A little bit of backfire here and there, sounds great while at idle, no drone at all, and when you're just driving normal with the radio on its basically unnoticeable. To anyone thinking about doing this mod: DO IT!
(P.S. It sounds 43x better in person.)

So since my ko3 is almost completely dead I've been thinking about a small Ko4 build. I'm trying to keep the cost down and I read this over on audiforums.com,

"KO4 - You will not have to change anything else except for the oil lines and software. For the aggressive files, you will need bigger injectors, an adjustable FPR, FMIC, and tuning."

How true is this? And if I only get the turbo, oil lines, tune, and pair it with my 3" exhaust will the money I spend really be worth it over a Ko3 with a tune?

Yeah I'm trying to go with used to keep costs down. There's a guy on here currently selling a Ko4 and tune, I'll message him and see what happens.
