    Bought a thermostat from parts geek and its the wrong type even though it says it should work.
    The left is the one i need the right is the wrong one i ordered.
    Has anyone ordered just the thermostat without the housing, its looking like that's my only option.

    i did from europaparts and everything worked just fine.

    i ordered the thermostat for my S4 and that is exactly what i was sent. the wrong one. i had a thread about it a few weeks ago.

    there ya go. expensive little sucker. I'm just guessing on the year (your sig) but it should be the right one

    I think there are some parts suppliers that don't properly differentiate between the A4 and S4. They think the S4 is a sub-model of the A4, but don't separate their parts applicability by sub-model, so some things that are intended for the A4 get erroneously listed as being applicable to the S4 as well. That's just my theory, anyways
