    Spacers for stock 19" rotors

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am putting back on the stock Titanium Rotors (8.5J x 19) with stock continentals rubber in the spring (once the rubber wears out I'll buy new wheels).

I want to add spacers and have the wheels as aggressive as possible without rubbing while moderately lowered (say one finger above wheel to wheel well)

I have et35 winters, and they are close, but I'd still want to add a 2-3mm up front, and maybe 5 in the back if this was for summer. Anyone run spacers on the stock wheels? Would 10/17.5 work? Appreciate any pics of anyone running this setup.

I have 10mm spacers all around on my stock peelers at stock ride height. I think the stock rotors have the same offset as the peelers.

    8mm all around:

I'd probably go 10mm if I still ran these wheels, less chances for vibrations, and it will look more flush with the 8.5" wheels.

I believe their "flush" kit is 8mm in the front and 12.5mm in the rear.

That's correct, I believe stock rotors, peelers, and clovers are all same offset. I wonder if there's a disadvantage to not going square all around

Your sig says you are using 15f/20r spacers on peelers. Do you have any pictures you can post showing what it looks like?

I'm running A5 18" x8.5s with at ET of 29 and no rubbing at all at stock height for my winter setup. Diameter and width is same as my 19s.

    Hello Guys,

From my own experience, getting a flush look with spacers depends on many parameters :

    - The type of tires : some tires, even with the same dimensions, can be drasticaly wider than others (i.e Michelin PSS vs. Conti's for example )
So, chances of rubbing are least with narrower tires that are a little stretched.

    - Alignment : the geometrical setup plays a hudge role. Particularly for the rear end where camber is adjustable. ( audi specs are within -0.5 and -1.6° if i remember well, and each 0.1° has the same effect that ~ 1 mm spacer for rubbing. Too much toe in can also lead to rubbing where bumper and rear fender meet.

    - Ride height: the more your are low, the more you have chances to rub, but it's almost dependent on the alignement specs, more than ride height.

    - Chassis alignement !! : i notices than my rear end was not symetrical: for a same spacer size (and same alignement specs): i had ~ 3 mm more room at he passenger side ! (so initialy, i rubbed on passenger side and did not at the driver side with my 12.5 mm ECS spacers). Since i track my car i little bit, i had an agressive camber set up done (-2.0°) and now, it doesn't rub at all with 12mm passenger side and 15 mm driver side spacers . (Yes, I dared ... ;o) )

So, My general advice should be to care about spacer at the verry end of your chassis mods:
Drop your car if you want / check and get a proper aligment / have in mind that your tires type plays a role also

Then, your can start a "trial and error" process. And if you want the best flush possible without any chance of rubbing, your will have to buy different spacers sizes. (10-12-15)

I personnally have 10 mm front and 12 mm driver side and 15 mm passenger side rear. without any rubbing (with -2.0 ° rear camber and not too much toe in)
Personnally, I prefer to not put spacers Under 10 mm as they don't have a real centering flange like the original hub. I think without these, shear stress in the bolts are exessive (bolt are aimed at traction stresses and not shear). But, i don't have knowledge of problems with 8 mm spacers (with minimal centering flange), though....

Please feel free to share your opinion on this!

    Brest regards

    Mathieu

EDIT: here is the set up:
(dropped a little more the car since these pics)

Maybe, i will try 12 mm front and 17 mm driver side and 14 mm passenger side rear (by machining H&R 20 and 15 mm spacers) for a litlle more flush look !!

Unless you lower your car it will look odd with aggressive spacers. I know you said you were planning this...
I think 12mm spacers all round are perfect though with OEM offset wheels.
