    GIAC stage 2 b8 s4 vs stock (?) rs5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Was driving down the street after dinner and saw a real nice looking Audi. I looked close and it was a RS5.

The owner was accelerating next to me and after I realized it was a rs5 I pulled up next to him.

We were going about 30 mph and he jumped so I accelerated. After 2-3 secs my car pulled ahead and was going 100+ mph and he just gave up.

Second race was from dig and again we were even maybe for 2-3 secs then I pulled way ahead. Stage 2 s4 was clearly faster no doubt.

Owner didn't seem too happy tho :0

Is there a question in there? Or are you just telling a story and needing verification of something?

    oh yeh?

run the NA RS5 stock vs the FI S4 stock and see who wins.

these modded car vs stock car comparisons make no sense.

no, i said run stock vs stock.

now you're comparing a car thats had 7 years of development vs one thats had 3 years.

The 8300ish redline and NA V8 may be more appealing to "enthusiasts" but FI will always gain more power w bolt ons and tunes. Even the B8.5 A4s are now running low 12's on pump gas with the new EFR turbo while having fueling limitations...

Good thing the new S4's are going back to turbo.

It might be an RS4, but it's the exact same motor as an RS5.

My point is that if you want power and speed... FI is the way to go... You want sound and grunts... NA

yeah! just imagine snapping a EFR to the new S4 if a 2.0t with a small EFR can produce 11.8. then a 3.0 with the same turbo could easily make it into 10 !!

You realize, the S3/Golf R is in the 10's with a small EFR!

    Yep... a stage 2 S4 will be quicker than a stock RS5...
But - a stage 2 S3 will be quicker than a stock S4 (if not a tuned one!)... etc etc etc... These tuners are getting better and better and these FI engines are accepting more power more readily than ever...
RS5 is a lovely car and those V8's are just glorious... very satisfying to drive.

A proper Stage 2 B8 S4 will handle a Stage 2 S3 which lacks some of the top end, but it'll be close. Stage three on the S3 will put them in a different league. RS3 Sedan and the B9 S4 will have ridiculous potential.

Too bad it's losing both the DCT and the 6 M/T. Wouldn't look at one twice.

My friend has an M235i w the ZF8 and it's plenty good. They also use it in their higher RS models due to how much torque they can handle. Might be a deal breaker for some, but it will be nothing like the tiptronics of the past and will warrant a test drive.

I've driven an RS7 with it. Not to say it's bad by any stretch, in fact it's really good, but I'd much rather have DSG at least if a manual wasn't an option.

If I was in the market again and the B8.5 was off the table I may have had to go with the one of the 335i/435i variants.

I murdered an RS5 off a light, at first I thought it was just a stock S5 vs. my stage 2 GIAC+DSG, intake, headers, etc :) He had some extra weight in his car, looked like a 115lb blonde chick :)

The RS5 is definitely a panty dropper. I would prefer a TD1 flagged S5 with $25k in mods though :)
