Muffler & resonater delete!

So this is the poor man mod but I went further. Suitcase resonator and two big mufflers are replaced with a straight pipe. Very little/no drone.

Where do you find shops that do this??? Are these specialty shops or ???? What kind of sound could I get from an A7 if I did this or is it worthless on an a7

So was this the center muffler removed and both the rear mufflers?

I'm wondering what the 4.0TFSI would sound like with both the front mufflers removed. Has anyone done this? I see the AWE touring system does this and puts an X-pipe in its place.

I had just the big suitcase resonator deleted for 80 bucks at a muffler shop and love the difference in the sound. Told them to keep it on the shelf if there was any drone or cel I would be back. That was a month ago not going back. Probably won't do the other resonators.

I ran the video in my car through the speakers - whoa! Always difficult to tell with videos, but sounded pretty sweet.

Guess what i removed the two resonators at the very end and removed the suitcase muffler. I assure you this $370 mod is going to be the best $370 you are going to spend on an exhaust. Plus, it has ZERO drone. I dont know how but the muffler shop guy told me that turbos muffles the sound that cause to be NO DRONE. I just did it for fun at first but I couldn't believe it. You hear every thing, Downshifts, Upshifts and with the DSG it makes this sound at the end of the rev limit amazing!

I heard the video I posted and I can swear it doesn't sound the same in person. It is wayyyy better in person, I can assure you that. Plus, highway and in city cruising speeds = ZERO drone.

I'm going to be the skeptic here, I don't believe there is no drone. Hacking up a stock exhaust always drones, I've done it so many times and it doesn't bother me but usually it drones at certain RPMs.

I assumed the same thing when I decided to install it and I didn't mind and believe me I have had many experiences with drone. Here's another video of an acceleration. Again the sound in person sounds way more aggressive with a lot of pops and explosions at the back when downshifting. The only mods was removing the suitcase muffler and the two resonators at the very end of the car and replaced them with a straight pipe for the people who are wondering

Not always. On both my previous Porsche Cayennes, an S and then a GTS, I eliminated the middle mufflers, and there was no drone whatsoever. Just a more aggressive growl. On the S, it was raspy at higher rpms under full throttle, but it still sounded good.

If anyone is interested I actually have the rear section off my Milltek that is straightpipe with no mufflers. This will allow you to put the larger Milltek tips or whatever tips you'd like on your car. Plus the bends are perfect fitment with the hangers already in place.

I found that my car's PO did this. My exhaust was always a bit nicer than I assumed stock would be and when I installed my AWE Touring exhaust I found out why. It's worth the money in my opinion to have this done if you aren't getting exhaust soon.

Unfortunately, I haven't had any experiences with A7/A6 exhaust set up, but I think if you asked the A7/A6 members they will be more resourceful.

It sounds good, nice bark to it. I think the thing with drone is when you're at low RPM on the freeway with just minimal gas to maintain your speed. When gunning it, you want it to be loud.

Well I don't know if it is the piping shape or for some other reason but when using cruise control in highway speed or doing it my self by applying light throttle to hold the speed I get no drone just like stock.

This sounds lovely. This should be a tasty sonic upgrade on my 2012 A6 (not sure of the turbos on the S line are a factor here or not, perhaps someone could enlighten me) without having to go full Monty on the AWE system, if all I'm looking for is pipe music.

Here's a question - since AWE does sell the Resonated Downpipes separately, would those alone produce a Here There Be Monsters growl like the muffler deletion? I'm curious if the emissions are affected, which of course drives the Tree Worshippers here in Cali absolutely nuts.

I'm also thinking of doing the same. Any chance you'd be willing to post a video of cruising and acceleration inside and perhaps idling outside? Trying to see what works best, as I don't have any intent of replacing the pipes at this point in time.

Yes sir! Love the downshifts. At highway cruising speeds no drone, however when accelerating you hear a great rumble it's is loud but not drony (if you know what I mean). Sound became deeper since installed. Will never go buy an aftermarket exhaust just because this suits my needs for way cheaper ($370).

Does anyone know the length of the stock mufflers?
Will a 14" muffler fit in it's place?

I wish that's what I was quoted. The only reputable shop around wanted almost 1k$ to cut out and rebuilt the resonated section using stainless with tig welds.
