What is this??

Hey all, I am new to Audi's and picked up a steal of a deal. All I had to do was download Vag-Comm and did a throttle-body alignment, then she is good to go. Except the stereo. Someone ripped out the stock radio, and left wires everywhere. I believe I have it figured out, and will be installing a decent Pioneer head unit in. I have all wires figured out, except for this weird circuit board. Does anyone have any idea what this does, or where it goes?
It's about the size of my finger.

I believe that is a temp sensor, and sticks into a small hole in the airbox/vents. Likely got knocked out when they were messing around with the aftermarket radio, either installing or removing.

on prefacelift it is between the climate control and radio.
