My stock turbo just crapped the bed (the impeller shaft had more play in it than a preschool) and decided to pass all my oil out through the exhaust in a 5 minute period. Compression test was 200, 202, 205, and 190 so I know I didn't blow the head gasket or a ring. I have an f21 frankenturbo kit on the way and I'm getting everything ready. In this picture, are these casting marks going across the heads in between the ports? The square openings on the outside had oil in them when I took off the exhaust gasket. Kind of worried me until I looked up pictures of other 1.8t heads and they all had versions of these marks. Just wanted to confirm with someone. Not sure how they got oil in them and why the middle square didn't have oil. Valve cover was leaking (just replaced it while everything is apart). Maybe it was collecting there from the leaking valve cover?
