    For some reason I had b5 97-02 and b6 03-05 in NA -- so I quickly googled 2002 a4 to refresh my brain and b6 body came up..

    I feel like there was a transition period when they both sold B5 and B6's as 2002 model year ? it's weird

    I'm pretty sure that was only the S4 (B5) and the A4 (B6).

    In Europe, the B6 A4 was available from 2001, with the S4 arriving in 2003.

    Correct, but I'm referring to US spec cars since the OP is in US.
