I just ordered some 19x9.5 ET45 wheels with 275/35/19 tires, and I'm trying to learn what to prepare for. Thanks!
The rubbing is where the fender clip used to be. RE-71s run wide, so I was rubbing all last racing season on the stock Rotors with 255/35/19s on. When they were new, I was rubbing on the fender screw. They rubbed away all the plastic around the screw, so I removed it. It still rubbed on the inner fender in that screw area (towards the rear of the arch) for a little while and eventually subsided as the tires wore down.
A quick update:
I raised the rear up a quarter inch (was set ALL the way down on the PSS10s) and adjusted the camber as far in as the cam would let me, and there is now ZERO rubbing in the rear. I installed SPC control arms in the front and turned each turnbuckle exactly 3 turns shorter than stock length (so 6 threads total since the turnbuckle adjusts each end at the same time). I now have ZERO rubbing in the front. I haven't gotten a formal alignment yet, but I measured with an inclinometer a little over 3° all around. I will report back what it actually was when I take it in for alignment.
The results? This setup is fantastic! I couldn't be happier with them!! There is so much more grip than the old 255s, and the PSS10s are a joy! I absolutely annihilated the competition at the "Winter" Autocross held at Road America a couple weekends ago. I went out with the PSS10s set all the way to 10, and after skipping over some of the undulations in the pavement transitions, turned them down to 7 for the afternoon session and had perfect grip the whole time.
