    problem with the AC fan

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    hello everyone,

i have a problem with fan to my AC, i took it to a authorised workshop that works with VAG cars, they did a
troubleshooting and said that Audi Blower Motor Resistor (8K0820521B) was bad or that the fan had been stuck, they where not sure.

so i bought the part and replaced it my self real easy job, but the problem is still there, while i was replacing the resistor i connected 12v directly to the fan and it worked,
i have check all the FUSE that have/has AC on them but they all good? some help

I had an issue where my fan had stopped blowing and it gave errors for fan or controller. The module mounted on the fan has large power wires feeding it and then the connection that goes to the fan motor itself. You can slide meter leads into the back of the plugs fairly easily to check voltage. Two large wires (power and ground) feed the module. Verify those have 12 volts. The side going to the motor will usually read between 3 to 12 volts depending on the fan speed setting. My issue was the motor brush dust had accumulated and one of the brushes wasn't making good contact with the armature. With the motor connector disconnected I would get a variance in ohms across the motor terminals when I moved the wires around. I removed the fan motor and removed it from the housing and flushed it with isopropyl alcohol and some contact cleaner. I cleaned the armature with a pencil erasure and it then read a steady 8 ohms (if I recall correctly). Reassembled and has worked great since. Also a good time to put a drop of machine oil on the bearings while there. The amount of black dust that flushed out of the motor was impressive.

I had a similar issue as yours where the fan would start then stop intermittently but I replaced the fan only, not the resistor and it worked fine afterwards. I believe the control module is located on the fan housing and comes with a new fan and is separate from the resistor. I had the following error codes:
